My kids have started taking to Monopoly but I've always hated dealing with the printer paper cash. Presumably most banana republics don't print on fabric like the US, but I have to imagine that there are some decent quality paper bills out there for pennies, right?
Where do you find that sort of thing -- or do wild inflation countries really just grab some 20# paper and print some more?
In reply to P3PPY :
There's probably an app for that.
Other than Monopoly, your kids will likely have little real life exposure to real bills.
North Korea will print what you want :)
I am not sure is any paper money from the Eurozone countries is convertable anymore ,
So maybe you could buy D-marks , French Frances or Lira notes
You can buy ludicrous figures of Zimbabwe dollars on ebay. Like 50 trillion dollar notes.

There is Prop US money you can get online. It looks real but don't your kids try to spend it.

My dad fought in WW2 but didn't have enough points to rotate home when the war ended. He had to guard prisoners for a while.
I don't know if you're aware America was printing tons of Nazi paper money and dumping it over battlefields to devalue German Marks.
When prisoners surrendered those phones Marks were collected. Most were burned but some were handed out to guards. Dad and others played poker for hundreds of millions of worthless German Marks. Dad wound up with a whole chest of them. Guess dad was pretty good.

Thank you, Toyman, this ended up being the way to go!
Monopoly has 30x 500,100,50,20,10,5,1 bills and the price went down if I got 100 so I got 120 of each, enough for four sets. I spent a little extra to get a different country per denomination, grand total of $150, shipped (that's American bills). I'm going to keep a set, give a set to my friend's son and one to my dad. The other one I'm going to try to sell as a Monopoly set on eBay for $50 to recoup some of my money.
I'll post pics when they arrive. I'm really excited!

If you're going to sell a set, let me know?
I'm getting ready to build a monopoly game that doesn't exist yet, that would be a fun way to do the money.
Glad to be of assistance.
In reply to Toyman01 ( + Sized and...) :
After looking at the pricing I really need to get some type of protective sleeves for my trillions of Zimbabwe money I purchased when it was worthless.

I didn't do the math to see quantity <100 prices. $50 may or may not be a good price. It was $37 per set my cost, I hate to charge you $50 but it's part of how I justified making the purchase

I'd feel alright with $50, you already did the hard part, you deserve something for it.
I'm saving $60 printing the houses and hotels myself instead of buying the themed ones, so that frees up some of the budget for this project.

Hold off a few months and you can probably use USD. Or Canadian dollars if you want something a bit more colorful.

Mannnn I hope not!
On that same theme, it's so tempting to try to sell the house right now, move in with the in-laws and then buy when everything goes to pot. But I'm no financial guru so I'd probably just end up living in one of 03Panther's RVs down by the river

Well, I'm interested in seeing what the plan is. If it has anything to do with tin pot dictators then I have just the currency you need!

This is me right now. Dump the house. Move into the RV for a year or two. So tempting. The local housing market is insane. Almost every house that hits the market is selling for more than the asking price in less than 5 days. Crazy.

According to the Zillow estimate, house in KC we sold two years ago went up 40% over the last year, our new one only 25%. Our RE agent suggested in our new area to look for $100/sq ft, but I just saw some mediocre house go for $175/ea. Plus, my wife is growing sick of the house and the upkeep of our strange yard situation. Meanwhile I'm suddenly feeling like opening the purse strings to actually FIX what's wrong. Status quo here we come!

We're a harry potter household, well, the girls are. Clothes, under clothes, bath mats, plates, shower curtains, games, etc etc. Turns out, in all the millions of versions of monopoly, nobody made a harry potter one.
Tin pot dictator could be a good stand in for voldemort on the money.
In reply to Toyman01 ( + Sized and...) :
But if the market doesn't go down, you probably won't be able to buy again in the area.
A lot of people did just that in my area because property went stupid here. They are homeless with hundreds of thousands of dollars in the bank. Even RV parking spots have gone thru the roof and they've waited 2 years or more.
Of course if you don't like where you live, the answer is easy

The day you decide to play along is the day you get hit by a bus.
Japanese Yen is $0.10 or ten Yen for a dollar; but I think the winner is the Burundian Franc. ~$1900 Franc per US Dollar. Hit up a bank in a big town (NYC?) or see if it can be done on line. Buy a bushel for $12.

My last move was to get out of the popular area. I made a killing on that house. Unfortunately, I seem to have moved to the next popular area and it's time to get the hell out of this town as well. I'll be building my next one on a property I already own so the RV is just a place to live while the construction is going on.
In reply to Toyman01 ( + Sized and...) :
Well hell, I'd sell then.
We sold our house in the city to move back to my house I kept in the country. Prices have skyrocketed here but I like it and don't wanna sell.
Although if the place gets way different I reserve the right to change my mind.
In reply to Toyman01 ( + Sized and...) :
If ya bought the big boy, )and I could make ya a heck of a deal during our fire sale mentality we are in, and deliver it!) You might not want to move back in a house. I’ve stayed in dozens of places not as nice! Don’t remember is you have kids, though. That might get a bit cramped living in full time.
Push come to shove I’ve got a 23/26 foot needs a lot of cosmetic, but good “bones” for challenge money, and a 5’er that need a ton of work, but could be had for next to a bucket of dirt. If ya get desperate, we got ya covered.
