I know. The word terrorist hurts the feelings of people who fly planes into buildings, murdering innocent civilians. But just in case you live under a rock, or use TMZ as your main source of 'news,' Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four other "suspects" in the 9/11 attacks will be moved from Gitmo to New York for trial in a berkeleying civilian court.
Fantastic. These dicks will be returning to the city they tried to destroy, where they'll receive the full protection of the United States Constitution, and more than likely, milk and berkeleying cookies.

Political correctness has wrecked this country. We have become way too "nice". Now good people get walked all over and crooks get away with anything.

That last line wouldn't be so bad if it turns out to be "milk and berkeleying cookies, followed by a lethal dose of potassium berkeleying chloride."
One of the main "ideals" of the U.S. is/has been to act in the mode of the golden rule.....that is, do unto others as you would want them to do unto you. That falls down when you run into situations where "the other side" could care less about the golden rule, or ANY rules EXCEPT those they wish to make up to fit their situation.
Muslims, well, the more fanatical ones, think they should kill ANYONE who prevents the return of the ONE MUSLIM WORLD (as opposed to the current world of many religions). In the Old Testament, God told Moses that when he sent the Jews into their Promised Land (remember, Moses was not allowed to join them) they...the Jews, were to kill ALL who were not of the Jewish faith that they found to be occupying their new homeland. The Jews did not do this, and while most civilized folks have stopped killing in the name of (their) god(s)....those of the Muslim faith see nothing wrong with killing to spread their religion over this planet. So, do we decend to their level, and "stop all this P C foolishness"? Or do we try to set/maintain a higher moral standard? Not wishing to live in a country like Iran...or even China, where those who complain are "detained, indefinitely" I say, bring these guys to the U.S. and show them we are a country of civilized human beings and not religious thugs who think that only a man's opinion on anything counts and that women have absolutely no rights to anything except what they are given (temporarily).
No sense applying our laws equally, everyone knows these Muslim extremists are scum, treat them like scum, shot them like dogs in the town square!
It's kind of hard to come up with a test as to which one is an extremist, so I guess we should just go with all Muslims (just to be on the safe side). Oh, and there are those people that just HATE the US government, citizen or not.. put them on the boat. You know, those Scientologists are pretty strange, put them on the boat also.
Don't worry, we will have this place straightened out in no time! After all, we are "the great satan", so we might as well start living up to that!
If the bomb vest does not fit, you must acquit!!

I know its Friday and all but its a bit early to be hittin' the sauce, yes?
I think ultimate justice would be them being convicted and sentenced to death by a jury of 12 women.

all of them have to be like Paula Dean... Southern and White

Um. Yes.
If you're on the battlefield, and someone is shooting at you, you shoot back. The 9/11 attacks were an act of war, no less deliberate or severe than the attack on Pearl Harbor. These guys aren't being tried for saying "praise allah," or dissent toward the U.S. Government, they're being tried for their involvement in an organized terrorist attack.
IMHO, a MILITARY trial, complete with the inevitable execution, is proper justice. Bringing them to civilian court in the city they attacked only helps to show the folks who want the eradication of non-muslims that the U.S. might as well be France.
Not to mention the inevitable hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of OUR money that will be spent to prosecute, and quite possibly defend these E36 M3 heads.
Hold a 1 day Military trial. Pick the scrawniest, hottest, blonde-haired, blue-eyed, female Marine you can find. Send her to gitmo, give her a gun with eight rounds and call it a day.
I don't see anything cruel or unusual about that.

I would suggest that during their stay in New York, that they be housed in general population at a gang engorged prison, preferably where there are a bunch of patriotic Hell's Angels. I know, not gonna happen, but still a good idea.

+1
Releasing them into the general population in a Federal pen would be a fate worse than death.
just ask Jeffrey Dahmer

From what I hear, Attica would probably do nicely. Problem is, there are a lot of fair weather muslims in prison.

I for one think that death would be exactly what they want, martyrdom and all that that entails. I think they should be locked up for the rest of their lives, no need to hurry them on their way to all of those virgins and such. (Army guy who has spent time in the sandbox)
I agree.. give them the fair trail they need and deserve. This IS america and not some third world dictatorship after all. I know that sounds all PC and E36 M3.. but it is what seperates us from the extremists. Our laws are meant to be fair and to apply to all..
And yes.. keep them in prison for the rest of their lives. It might cost more.. but letting them rot in isolation (they will never go into the general population due to threats) is a MUCH worse fate than killing them
The best punishment for want-to-be martyrs is to keep them alive, alone, and forgotten.
We are better than them and we will treat them as such. We must set the example.

True enough!
But even a military tribunal would treat the perpetrators better than they treated their victims.
Interesting conundrum, is it not?

So we did that at Gitmo and look how THAT turned out. And I think oldsaw has brought up the /thread answer.

what's missing about Gitmo is the "forgotten" part... some of our bleeding hearts just wouldn't let it lie....

Let's look at it tactically; We don't want to do anything that will swell the ranks of recruits for any terrorist organization. If we treat them poorly they will use it as nearly like politicians use gaffs and sound bytes....
That's bad. The defense laywers, prosecutors and jury members names are public record. Think anyone capable of flying a plane into a building is capable of intimidation?
Oy.

Anyone in court for a violent crime is being treated better than his or her victim. So this arguement would apply to all violent criminals.
