Ok I get a letter offering me a job as a "mystery shopper". Enclosed is an acceptance letter and a check for 3500ish bucks. They say I have to cash the check and spend 100 at best buy, sears etc.then I'm to western union 3100 of it back to them to "evaluate their customer service". So is there any way for me to screw these scammers over?

Did it come with a SASE? If it did then tape the thing to the heaviest box you can cobble together. ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/evil-18.png)

Nope no sase, I want to take it to a check cashing place and call it a day! Though that probably wouldn't work
Somebody posted on this scam recently and it was fully explained, not sure what the name of the thread was though.
yeah that sounds like fun
Cash the check by taking it to your local FBI office.

send em $5 bucks via western union with a note, "this is all thats left, thanks for the car.."
actually, id just call or take it down the local police and let them have a go at it.. they may not be interested, but you never know..
Well I don't think I'd be out any money. But the company that's named on the check would be. Bek management Inc. I'm gonna call them during buisness hours tomorrow see what they have to say. Maybe I can help them out.
Who is the issuing bank on the check?
Does the issuing bank have local branches?
wachovia, and I think they do have local branches. What about it?
As I remember from the previous posting of this, if you deposit the check you will be screwing yourself. Something along the lines of passing a bad check, because clearly there really is no money.

I'm NOT going to cash this, I'm calling the company named on the check tomorrow, and informing them that they are getting scammed, I googled them and it seems like a legitimate buisness,
The post mark is canadian (damn canucks
)
the letter has a NY address
and the check is from PA, my mother in law lives near there so I'm going to send her to check it out. my wife was familiar with the address on the check.
