Another vote to generic/clairitin-d. I started taking it 2 weeks ago, and those 2 week's have been gloriously free of stuffy/runny nose. It works so well i can tell when it's wearing off and i forgot to take it.

I have to use Claritin in the spring and fall. Other OTC stuff makes me ore drowsy. For a little extra boost I use:

One of the ingredients is Stinging Nettle Leaf which helps reduce allergy symtoms. While turmeric is known to reduce inflammation. The black pepper is for absorption into the body.

The problem is that it is not a catchall phrase for "alternative medicine" It is a very specific subset

When people use it like you have it lends validity to its particular brand of quackery, then people feel better about paying $30 for sugar pills and its place in our culture is further cemented.

I am not against natural and alternative medicines, but homeopathy is such utter nonsense that has been debunked a million times yet people still pay large amounts for medications that contain no active ingredients.

My childhood hero James Randi on the topic.

You have to look at the active ingredient, or what the product uses as a blocker. For me it is Cetrazine which is Reactine, but here are a couple off brand products with the same chemical and they also work for me. I have tried them all because my allergies are berkeleying awful, and Cetrazine works wonders, but the others do squat.
