Shopping SS brake hoses for a '05 S197, planned street use only but maybe a track cross in the future. OEM style exact fit is a must w/ factory brackets, no wire ties or rigging, no universal kits.
So far, kits from Russell, Steeda, Crown Performance and J&M have caught my eye. Any experience w/ these brands or other brand recommendations? How was the fitment (on any car)?
Leaning toward the J&M kits from American Muscle, the most reviews and all positive.

Hahahaha...even if you did somehow get lines of the exact right length, SS lines are so stiff they might bend your factory brackets when you turn the wheels. Ask me how I know.
I heartily endorse NOT running SS lines for street-only or mostly-street use. You'll only feel the difference under extreme braking.
Running Goodridge SS lines myself. Lines themselves are good, but fitment was a clusterberkeley, every ghetto line fitment trick in the book had to be used. Not sure it was a good idea.

I have run SS lines on NUMEROUS different vehicles and what you describe has never happened, nor I have ever heard of it before.
SS lines bent the brackets that came with my coilovers, even though the lines were longer than stock...maybe those brackets aren't as stiff as stock, they were meant to be hand-bendable after all, but it happened.
That sounds more like an issue with your specific choice of parts.
I've been running cars with SS lines on the street for over a decade and as long as you get decent lines and not the sort of "ebay special" that has you wonder if the person who made the lines actually ever saw a picture of the car, you shouldn't have problems with them.

Why not just get custom ones from a local hydraulic shop? I have found the quality and fit to be way better than any mass produced line.
^I definitely should have gone with custom lines myself. That's what I'll be doing when I need extended lines on my Samurai.

Sounds like junk coilovers to be honest. I've run russell lines for years now without issue.
Never had any issues besides when i hacked a $20 set off 2nd gen MX6 stuff onto my 1st gen MX6. Brackets didn't line up. Zip ties came to the rescue.
