I was a surveyor for several yrs (many many yrs ago) and I've run levels on some pretty steep slopes ... and yeah I remember the formula of rise divided by run times 100 .... it's just that visually Old Fort Mountain (I 40 WNC) and Saluda grade (I 26 upState SC/WNC) both appear MUCH steeper than 4 - 5°
and are listed as 6 - 8 % grades ... I know how wrong I must be ...it's just hard to convince my eyes LOL
