On Valentine's Day one of my stepbrothers was in a head on collision, he was driving a Mazda3 which pretty well sacrificed itself for him. He has a laundry list of injuries: every one of his ribs is broken, his liver and kidneys were badly bruised, one lung collapsed and the other bruised. His spleen was so badly damaged it had to be removed.

It was touch and go for a while there, but the latest is that he's no longer the sickest guy in the hospital, he's only in the top five now. He is on dialysis and has a tracheotomy to assist with his breathing so he can't talk, they keep him pretty well sedated to help with pain. But the docs are optimistic; they say he won't get out quick but he should get out.

His long term prognosis is that he will probably be disabled; he should be able to walk but he won't be able to lift stuff, etc.

I'm just glad I'm not going to his funeral. He's a pretty good guy.

Curmudgeon Two thumbs up on your last statement. I'm sick and tired of losing all the good guys.

I knew the things were safe. It was ugly, but he's alive. Here's to him.
