What is the best location/way to store large body parts that you want to keep around just in case?

Car body parts in case you were wondering. Doors/Fenders/Bumpers/Hatch.

To answer the question: Attics and ceilings.

I've found that large parts that I hold on to 'just in case' eventually get tossed out after about ten years. Make sure they're something you realistically will use sometime in the future.

Attics are best. No chance of damage by stacking crap on them, no moisture from being on the ground, and away from standing water.

your dad's barn.

it's always worked for me, i usually take stuff over there when he isn't home. and i make absolutely sure he is home to see me taking stuff out.

I need to remember that trick next time I am over at my father's shop.

I have a trunk lid with spoiler from a '89 MR2 sitting in my F-I-L's barn. I have had the lid about 10 years but not owned a MR2 for over 8 years now.

I generally store them still attached to the car. Or on the dining room table. Strangely, the whole extra car got me in more trouble than the bumper cover on the table did.

Trying to get the spare parts car out of the garage so the attached to the car storage is out.

I am dropping my old truck off with my parents to use for a farm truck.... Maybe they will not notice if I drop a few parts off with it?

Attic - Not sure I can get a door thru the access hatch to the attic and I know there is no way the hatch will fit thru there.

Yeah I should just sell most of the parts but I want to get everything off the car first and then figure out what I might need before working on selling the extra stuff. And the way I work it might be a year or two before I figure that out.

up in the trusses of the garage.. unless you're one of those people with a fancy finished garage, then i don't know- maybe it's time for another shed..

My attic, mainly, but I only have a couple of Spitfire doors and a GT6 rear hatch. Other stuff is in my basement and spare engines and transmissions are in my shed. I'm planning to build a new, larger and more weather-tight shed this year and consolidate most bits into that.

Until a few months ago, Chuck had about two and a half motorcycles in the attic.

also, body parts hang nicely on the walls and make great conversation pieces..

Sigh... my basement is full of old and new truck parts, spare tires and rims for the three cars I own. My mudroom is likewise, stacked from floor to ceiling with extra parts... and my picnic table is tarped and stacked with the entire disassembled guts of a KLZE motor. I wish someone would come and steal it.
