Stranded by the side of the road

Yesterday was way below average. Was heading home to Decker Prairie to be with the wife for her back surgery this coming Wednesday. At about Eutaw/Aliceville on 59/20 the Dmaxx shed the serpentine belt. Literally rolled into the rest stop with no brakes and minimal steering. I'm truly thrilled for the existence of AAA. Got towed to my room here in B'Ham resting  patiently for a ride to Enterprise tomorrow morning. More to follow.....

I've known my wife since 1980 and I just found out YESTERDAY that her dads beater Corvair died on the side of the road on a snowy Chicago day and they walked to the Police Station to get help.  

I DID know that at one point the axle locked up while driving and that ended it's life.

• There are no rent cars to be had after a roll tide game even with a reservation
• and my paper replacement DL is unacceptable
• So at 12:15p today the Dmaxx was swept away to local tire and oil change franchise
• one of the idler's has come apart, both are being replaced and the belt she is GOOD

Picked up the Dmaxx at 5:50p big shout out to the crew at Express Oil Change & Tire Engineers!!! Leaving B'Ham no later than 4:00a tomorrow....big WOOT!!!

Forgive me for taking over your thread for a rant.

I had their most costly policy for five years, only called once. I needed a quarter mile tow in the middle of town, and gave up after six hours. The tow never happened. My wife had to leave work, go home, pick up my truck, drive me to the hammer store to buy a tow strap, so I could tow the car myself.
