So today, for the second time in 4 months, a stranger has simply walked into my house! Both times it was someone that was here to visit my neighbor and had the wrong house.
That's strange enough, but here's the thing. What kind of people are visiting my neighbor that feel comfortable enough to walk into the house without knocking, but don't know them well enough to realize the cars in the driveway are not the ones they drive, the door they are walking through is made up of a home-built solar collector, and the yard is VERY different?
I don't know if that makes sense, but when I go to a friends house, I don't just walk in. The only house I just walk into is my moms. I would know that I pulled into my moms neighbor's house accidentally LONG before I walked into the wrong house.
My kids told me that last week a car pulled in the driveway, the guy got out and tried to open the door, then got back in his car and sat in the driveway for a few minutes before finally driving away.
Odd that.
Another hunk of weird is the neighbor himself. These are weird people. If you were to walk right past them on the sidewalk and say "hi", they don't respond. Won't make eye contact. They are just strange people.
These three things happening in a short period of time kinda has me feeling like I should be keeping a sharp eye out for things.
Start keeping your door locked. It'll probably make your kids feel better, too.
That could get you shot around here. My FIL does that and I absolutely hate it.
Yup, that's a good way to get dead.
The sound of a pump action 12 gauge being racked should be enough. Ive always told my wife that if the mother berkeleyer is stupid or high enough to keep coming after that noise, we are doing the world a favor.
This sounds like a rule that needs to be implemented in your home.
And locks. That are used at all times. Possibly police neighborhood watch. This is a very disturbing situation to hear about, i can't imagine what it is like to live with.
Definitely offer them some Amway. That should keep them away.
Weird situation. I don't walk into any house unannounced, either. Sounds like the neighbor is selling drugs, and the zombies are looking to re-fuel. Sorry you're in that situation.
Always lock the doors. I had to put an extra one on my door because of the drug addicts next door. Had a drug dealer show up at my door twice and told him he had the wrong house plus friends of the drug addicts trying to get in. The dealer still tried to sell me drugs. The addicts next door got raided back in October but that did not make them go away. Their father who is never home don't give a E36 M3.
Put a bunch of Jehovahs Witness pamphlets just inside the door. They'll run!!
I think you need to get down to the local police department and report all of this.
Well, I agree probably drugs.
But some people are weird. My next door neighbor (of 19 years) comes to the door armed if I knock and wait for him to answer. If I knock, walk in and say "Hey" I get "attacked" by a pit bull looking for attention... I know they aren't into drugs.

Maybe it'll make them better people.

You think so? I was kinda thinkin that, but thought I might be over reacting.
Nope. I agree. Time to alert the authorities and maybe get a dog.

I did call the police on mine. They only collected the info and nothing else. They were the ones telling me to keep door locked. YMMV, I guess depending on city or state laws. Also, I have 2 dogs but that doesn't scare them away.
Holy cow ... where the hell do you guys live that you have to keep the doors locked all the time.
I had the same thing happen to me a couple of months ago. It was a friend of my neighbor's and she got the wrong house. She came in, I looked at her, she looked at me and said wrong house. No big deal.

I have a solution to that we're they walk in on feet and out in a bag.
Challenge visitors to a burlap sack race?
Am I the only one that doesn't think killing people is a reasonable reaction to most situations?

Apparently...WTF is wrong with you?
I didn't see anyone say to kill anyone, but it is a worrisome situation especially if it is something like drugs since those guys might be the ones with the guns.

Apologies as the last person who got in the front door of my house wasn't invited and had I'll intent. No, I did not resolve the issue in that manner but I did have his drivers license I hand when the police arrived to file the report.
