Any one else get screwed over in travel by this thing? JetBlue did a horrible job of managing this at Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport. I called the Airport and Jetblue before leaving Homestead Air Base for my flight to make sure my flight wasn't cancelled. Called again when I was 20 minutes out and before I returned the rental car. I wanted to make sure before I returned the rental so I could go back to base and get more work done. Get to the counter and the shiny happy person tells me they cancelled the flight at 3:00PM and it was 5:30PM when I was checking in.
Now I'm on the first flight out in the morning and stuck at Holiday Inn and I feel like I'm going to be here longer than planned.
The thing is I hear DC is simply overcast right now.
I drove 350 miles across the northeast thru nearly lethal levels of patchy clouds and sunshine for most of the evening. I am lucky to be alive.
I've contemplated asking Jetblue for a refund, paying for a rental car to Orlando so I can grab my fiancees Accord and just drive it up finally. Plus I'd get to see mom, dad, dog, and south of the border billboards for 300 miles.
Which Holiday Inn are you staying at? I'm at the Holiday Inn Express in Plantation, which appears to be 12 miles away from Ft Lauderdale Intl
I believe I'm at the Airport one on Sheridan Blvd. right next to the huge Hollywood water tower and a Denny's. It's ironic because it's like a 20 minute drive to the airport from here lol.
Mine is also next to a Denny's but off of Sunrise Dr
Ah at least you are in a nicer part of town. The staff here is very pleasant. I scheduled a shuttle to the airport at 5:30. I arrive downstairs at 5:20 and they said I was late for the 5:30 shuttle and I would just have to deal with it.
i suppose you could just blame it on the sequester and accept it...
that's the cause of all problems this week, right?
I got a package that needs to get from California to Florida by Monday and it hasn't even left yet
It's Wednesday. Please tell me that things will be back to normal for flying to the east coast by Friday morning. Please please please tell me that.

hey, I got the day off of work due to the snow here in Baltimore (SSA shut down, even though it's not THAT bad). So I'm liking it. Extra time to sleep in.

And here in Frederick 25 miles north of you we don't even have enough to cover the grass.
But I have seen pictures of Harpers Ferry (25 miles west of both of us) that show about 8" of snow.
finally got home, landed at National and it looked like the downtown dc area only got rain...
There is some faith in humanity as well. I met an older couple from Fairfax as well. Very very nice people, we went through this whole mess together. They asked how I was getting back to my newborn and fiancee and I told them metro/taxi and they offered to give me a ride home from the airport, which you don't see often from people around here or in general.
I made a complaint to Jetblue about the way their staff at Ft. Lauderdale handled the situation and how their online/phone flight status check didn't work and how it inconvenienced me and cost me an extra $115 for a hotel room, dinner, missing a day of work (today), etc. Their reply to my argument that they cancelled the flight because they didn't want to ground a plane for a night and decided to inconvenience a flight load of customers and provide no alternate flight or even a discounted rate at a hotel or a voucher for a meal, etc was "Cancellations are just part of the game, we will give you a $25.00 credit towards your next Jetblue flight." I'm going to fight this until I get a free round trip for my upcoming honeymoon to god knows where.

i've never flown on one of them there aluminum birds, but i've heard enough stories to know that the airlines think they have you by the balls and that there is nothing you can do about...
