Far less important than the health of you and your daughter, but I lost a Mazdaspeed Miata in almost identical circumstances. It was low miles, and the PO "never drove her in rain or snow". One second I'm driving along about 35 in an open lane and the next second all I see is air bag. Of course it was an unlicenced, uninsured driver.
I took more pictures when I went to clean out my car at the tow yard yesterday. The other family was there cleaning out their car. The person in the passenger seat was released from the hospital a few hours after the accident. I didn't get full details but it sounds like she'll be OK. That's a huge relief to me.
The other car:
I poured a quart of synthetic out in it's honor. Thank you Audi, for giving up your life to save ours.
Euro cars sure are designed for safety. Bmw, Audi, Mercedes, volvo all have solid safety response.
Seeing what I'll call little damage to the drivers side and given that you said you have a stated value policy (giving the Audi a higher than standard value) I'm not so sure the Audi will be totaled.
Both wheels still seem to point in the right direction. The windshield does not seem broken which suggests the a pillar has not moved. I think it will boil down to weather the engine itself took damage. The rest its then a front clip, a passenger door and two airbags.
In a simplified example, let's say this is $15k worth of damage. If the Audi had a standard value of $20k they might total it. If it has a stated value of $25k, they might fix it.
In reply to John Welsh :
The engine is pushed back to the firewall and the floorboard slightly buckled under the pedals from what I can see. I won't accept fixed for this.

Gee, glad you and your kid made it out safely! I am sure you took care of it, but get a new child seat, toss the old one out
VAG cars are well built, even a cheap Jetta can take a hit and keep its occupants safe. This is my mom’s less than a month old 2018 Jetta after being hit by a guy running a red light driving an Audi A6:
Every panel bent and my mom walked away without a scratch. Driving another Jetta now.
The Audi left the scene, was still driveable!
You had what we in the DE profession call the "good samaritan crash."
Happened to my ex wife and her A1 Jetta.
Never waive anyone across two lanes. It's not your job to give up the right of way. Other drivers cannot see around you leading to car on car, car on bike, and car on pedestrian collisions.
I never go when waived. If I can't see that it's safe I'm not gonna trust you for me. I can wait thank you.
And these are no accidents. Please stop using that word. Someone was at fault.
Get thyself to a doctor pronto.

The person I hit was waved through. I never wave anyone through and never go through if waved. I wish others would understand how bad it is.
Edited. Didn't like the way I opened.
Glad you and yours are okay.
I think you need an S3 next! That car did its job.
Found my old car up on copart. I wonder what it will sell for.

In reply to PMRacing :
The listing says Estimated Retail Value of $19,757 Does that number jive with the payout number that insurance company paid you as the owner? I'm just trying to verify if the numbers they are presenting to sell the car are the same as the numbers they used to "pay off" the owner.
The odometer says (not actual). Is there a genuine reason for this?
I see it has a Michigan Scrap title. Does this mean that the car can not be rebuilt? Florida has Certificate of Destruction titles where if it is so bad then car is labeled as such so the VIN can not come back on the road. Ohio just seems to have salvage and in therory, anything could be rebuilt to come back.
In reply to John Welsh :
Usually "not actual" mileage means "we couldn't get the digital display to light up when we put the key in". Just bought one listed that way and the only think keeping it from coming on was an obviously broken battery.
Edit: Why it has a specific mileage listed AND says "not actual" I don't know... Maybe the mileage was listed on accident paperwork but car won't come on to verify?
In reply to John Welsh :
I had to do my homework but I got much more than what they are stating value as. I got not much less than retail was on the car when I bought it, plus tax. Being the engineer I am I made a spreadsheet with a ton of comp cars, and differences between NADA and market value to similar cars to mine. I came up with a number that I would sell my car at and sent that to the insurance company after they low balled me. They agreed with me.
No idea why it is listed mileage unknown. It was actually mileage. I also don't know what the title means but I have seen salvage title cars listed as well. I am assuming that this car can't be retitled.

Ended up with a 2015 S4 6MT .
When I was in Europe and driving my buddies cars I seem to remember that they had seatbelts without the play in the belts ,
When buckled in you could not lean over and get something out of the glovebox like we can ( do not do this) ,
I wonder if the convenience of spring loaded belts is really bad for safety.
After a good friend broke his back in a roll over because he had his seatbelt under this arm and not across his chest , now I would never do that and drive slower and safer.
And I had a car near me get crunched just like the OP , by someone speeding down the right turn lane ,
Stay safe

If cars had belts that made it a PITA to reach over and get something, a lot fewer people would wear them. At a macro scale (which is what safety regulators have to deal with), it's a lot better to have a mostly-effective safety feature than 95% of people use than a slightly-more-effective safety feature than only 50% of people use.
In orientation for a trucking company, they told us to never leave an opening or wave someone out into traffic. When you do that you open up yourself and company to being sued if an accident happens, providing they get information to identify you. I never let anyone out and it makes people mad. I take care of ME.

Sorry, I meant the general you, not you you. I understand you were on the receiving end of the crash.
