"By this fence, near quiet wood, I sit alone were I once stood, By my brothers in a row, As Panzers attacked from the treeline below.

The farmland echoed with the sound of war, Were only peace had been before, And here were things are meant to grow, I fought and fell in blood stained snow.

The years since then have drifted by, I rust away beneath the sky, In a country free from Hitler's reign, My sacrifice was not in vain."

To all veterans, past and present: Thank You.

From a buddy of mine;

Chris said: While I appreciate the thoughts and prayers for our Armed Forces, just a reminder that it's not only those of us in uniform protecting our freedoms. Contractors, civilians, and "patriots" from other countries are doing the same. Please remember that we're not alone in this fight and never have been.

Of particular note to me, I have spent the last 10 years serving with Canadians among others. Right now, our brothers and sisters from the great white north are standing shoulder to shoulder with Americans to ensure we are safe.

I have served with Austrialians and British service members as well, here in the US ensuring that all of us are able to continue our way of life.

On this board we have an engineer who helped design, test, and deploy the armour on the HMVVs that are keeping our young soldiers safe. We have others who have provided direct support to our troops through their job.

Each day we interact with a huge group of non-unformed service members who also deaicate their lives to keeping us all free.

So thank them as well. I do.

let's keep in mind that this was Memorial Day and not Veterans Day ( that's in Nov) Memorial Day started out as Decoration Day, where the friends/families would decorate the graves of yankee soldiers ... in other words Memorial Day is essentially (at least started out as) being in memory of dead yankee soldiers .... the south didn't win so their Memorial Day are/were on different days depending on the state (it's not been PC for a very long time to celebrate Confederate Memorial Day)

I was born on Alabama's choice for Memorial Day in Montgomery ... I also a vet proud/happy to have served ... all the above is not a rant please don't take it as one, pretty much just FYI.... Memorial Day is quickly becoming another Veterans Day since the civil war isn't really an acceptable topic this day-n-age ....

but really thanks for all the kind thoughts and words
