So Im driving the turbobrick south in the left most lane. Dude in a M3 shows up behind me and starts tailgating. Genius sees the 4 or 5 cars in front of me and so after awhile he actually backs off. There was nowhere for either of us to go.
We drive a little further, the traffic in front of me moves over and at the same time another lane opens up on the left. I stay in the same lane. Now there is room to my left, there is room to my right. There's room to go around me. This is true for about 5 minutes. BMW guy stays behind me, in fact pretty far behind me For a guy who was tailgating not long ago, I assumed he was in a hurry. Maybe not. I had hoped he would have blown by me as I can always use a guy to attract the cops.
I come upon a slower vehicle. I look behind me, I signal, and I start to move out and who comes flying around me exactly at the same time I was pulling around the vehicle in front? Yup, douche bag bmw guy.
Then he starts jockeying back and forth and tailgating other people only for all of us to pass him as he was getting off at the next exit.
Stay classy guy.
I own a BMW. I don't drive like that. And coincidentally, I had the EXACT same thing happen to me by the driver of a Gran Prix this very morning. Your stereotype is what it is because that's what you want it to be.
you know the old saying … the exception proves the rule (and no I don't really understand it either ... )
just because you don't drive that way doesn't mean that BMW drivers haven't earned they're reputation
That really wasn't my point.
So can we all agree that drivers come in many styles across nearly all automotive marquees?
Because definatively, the only group of complete d-bag drivers are those in coal rollin' brodozers.

Yes I have had any number of makes and models try to give me a hard time.
- Driving from one work location to another in my Evo I just cruise at speed limit and take my time. I end up exiting a rather empty freeway and stop at the light at the end of an exit. A good 20-30 seconds later a big lifted new white Ford truck pulls up next to me and the driver starts cursing and spitting at me for who knows why?!?! Japanese car hate? IDK
- Driving my miata I get tailgated by a lady in a Camry for who knows how long. She always had HARD scary stops behind me as we were in an area with lights that were timed for the other direction. She could have passed me but then I noticed in the mirror she was looking down more than looking forward so when we had those many stops I had to brake check her a little to wake her up.
- Driving my company Dodge Dakota some guy in a lincoln decides to cut me off as we exit the freeway in the rain. He does it by crossing the diagonal striped marked no manzone at the split. I CAN"T slow down enough, ABS is going concrete walls on both sides and I just bump the rear facia of the damn guy's car and he goes ballistic!!! Of course there is no reason for him to be braking after he cut me off as there WASN'T a Berkeleying car in front of him!!! I thought this was going to be a scam where the guy claimed neck pain and I would get the legal paperwork later, but he was just a bad driver.
- Lexus driver tries to brake check me because he thought I honked at him but it was some other car behind me honking. AS there is a second lane I just drive around him when he goes hard on the brakes and he pulls up next to me at the stop sign down the road ready to fight!!! what?
I drive a BWM M3. Some days I am 'that guy'
While I will admit I stopped hanging out with other BMW driver due the prickiness quotient. The Biggest problem I had with my 318ti was all people who wanted to race me. I remember having an STi ahead of my at the tollbooth going into Atlantic City who rolled just far enough ahead for me to try to pass him.. soon as I went to do so, he floored it and took off.
I won't go into the STI that I put into a jersey barrier because he thought his rallye blue suby could hang with a lowered ti on coilovers, swaybars, and wide sticky starspecs as I went around a rapidly decreasing radius onramp that I drove everyday...
The "bmw Tax" is not just from BMW owners, but from people who think they have something to prove against BMW drivers.

buwahaha.....did you ever get any lift on the inside front at autox's?
A good friend of mine used to drive 18-wheelers. We went on a road-trip this past weekend, and I mentioned how a buddy of mine's nemesis is middle aged white ladies driving Lexus SUVs. (he's been hit twice by them in Chicago)
My buddy said--- nah--- Nissan Altima drivers are the worst. Really? Altimas? Sure enough, for the rest of the trip, every d-bag on the road seemed to be driving a Nissan Altima. I'm not sure if we summoned up an angry traffic demon who sent the Altimas our way or not......but sure enough each time I saw a car acting erratically, or driving while looking only 5 feet in front of them.......it was an Altima.
Perhaps you BMW haters are bringing it upon yourselves by conjuring up the traffic demons.
And Altima Coupe drivers are a breed apart from the regular reckless Altima drivers. Driving such a sporty car just eggs on the red mist.

Yeah... actually I wasn't throwing out "80%" as a number to humorously exaggerate. When traffic is stop and go around here, I am fairly certain the proportion of drivers playing with their phones is 60-80%

OK, I was humorously exaggerating. Around here, it's not quite that bad - maybe 30%. It is, after all, illegal to text and drive, in Wisconsin.

I'm pretty certain it's illegal here. It just appears that when people get into stop-and-go gridlock on the freeway, they figure that means they don't need to pay as close attention anymore. When traffic is actually moving... yeah about 30% sounds more right.
I was in a cab in SF yesterday and actually had to ask the driver to look out the berkeleying windshield. He was mucking around with a phone for half the ride to the airport in AM city traffic.

it's funny this came up. I got stuck behind an Altima from Florida yesterday.. for 5 miles, doing 25 in a 50 zone on a road with no passing for it's entire length. I need to find out how slow a person is allowed to go below the speed limit before you are allowed to pass them no matter what.. and how to get claw marks out of the Steering wheel from where I was grasping it in Anguished frustration.
Of course because I was driving a much larger vehicle, everyone thought I was the one lollygagging it down the road

Call the state troopers on him. He was drunk. Or at least that's what you tell the cops.
