You should be proud of him, and a bit yourself for providing a good set of genes and the right parenting to allow them to flourish and turn into a kid with a really bright future.

It truly is a sweet feeling when your kids succeed. My youngest son was just promoted to President of his company, 50 employees, after starting as an installer 5 years ago. I have his business card on the fridge,

Fantastic! I forget who said it, but 'you can tell a lot about a man by his kids'.

Congratulations to you and your son! If he's got your work ethic, he'll do just fine. A degree from MIT opens a lot of doors.

Wife got accepted to MIT, but did not have enough scholarship monies to be able to go out of state, but I can still brag about her at least

He will be the first in our family, to make to that level. Looks like it payed off teaching him to count at 12mo.

I went to Boston U and spent a lot of time over at MIT. They were doing work on digital video storage and graphic user interface at the time. These were undergrad and grad students and the time was 1978. Hard to picture life without these now-mundane tools.

Hopefully your son will be working on the tools for the future and find the usefulness to society he is looking for, Having said all that, I'm most impressed by his ability to get a summer job at Google!

Congrats to everyone. Here's the song we sang about the Beavers (MIT's mascot) to the tune of the Mickey Mouse Club theme:

There's no better feeling in the world than when someone says: "You've done a good job with that boy".

I've posted my son here so much that someone said he knew more about my kid than he does about his own cousins.

Congratulations GVX19, you've done a good job with that boy. Go ahead and break your arm patting yourself on the back, you've just generated a fantastic role model for the next generation.
