What I find funny about the phrase "devil went down to Georgia" is it implies that either the devil is a yankee, or that Georgia is lower than hell.

Man, I was lucky enough to see him a couple times. Most recently when he opened for Alabama a year or so ago. He alone, was worth the price of admission, totally upstaged Alabama. Heck of an entertainer even near the end!
