Any love for the Chevy Equinox? I have had a few as rental cars recently, and they seem like a nice update to my Kia Rondo. Roughly the same size and HP, but AWD and better mileage. They can be had at 0% for 72 months this month. I like the fact that I can get the base model with AWD, without having to upgrade to a package and spend a lot on stuff I don't want. (Like HUGE rims. Tires are expensive, I want smaller ones thank you).

My criteria are for an appliance: reliability, flexibility, and low operating costs trump all other factors.

My friend has an 05 or 06 -- it's nice enough. Spacious. Handles decently.

My parents bought a 2011, but sold it within a year. It was a huge change from the luxo-barge Caddies and Buicks they were used to.

It was a base(?) model with awd and, for the most part, I liked for the too few miles I drove it. Performance and handling were (subjectively) good and ergonomics were fine except the seats had seams in awkward locations. Build quality seemed quite good, but it was literally new when I drove it.

I'd look for some long-term test reports and carefully digest the info.
