Well, I have heard Jersey is hell on earth, so I suppose it makes sense that is where the devil lives.

Right, cause in that Charlie Daniels song the "devil went DOWN to Georgia" is implying he's from the north (Jersey)

Having driven on the Garden State Parkway, can confirm.
The legends were definitely part of the lore at the edges of the pinelands while I was growing up. Honestly legends probably just kept alive to induce scare-based cuddling.

This season of WWDITS was great, including the Jersey Devil episode. Some really great writing. Also, Matt Berry.
