My favorite "WW2" movie is currently Inglorious Basterds. This looks a lot like that. Color me interested.
Inglorious Basterds has its moments, but it's painful to watch in the same way that Everybody Loves Raymond is painful to watch. Far too many long drawn out moments of awkward.
That opening scene, however, nails it. And I had a serious laugh when Brad Pitt's character complained about how dumb an idea it was to fight in a basement.
You might be the first person I've heard compare a Tarantino movie to Everybody Loves Raymond.

He's not wrong tho. Inglorious Basterds was kinda ...off. Sometimes it was a cartoon, sometimes it was a war movie.

It was more bait n switch for me. The trailers built it up as more of Aldo and the Jews roaming around hunting Nazis, but the reality was more of Laurent's revenge.
I freaking love it. The opening scene in the farmhouse and the later one in the bar are master classes in tension.

Yeah, those were awesome, right? I've pondered both of those scenes afterward. But then like the cartoonish theater mess
Wifey and I saw the movie yesterday and it didn't disappoint. Had an Inglorious Basterds and Kelly's Heros ish vibe at times.
As incredibly absurd as the movie was, the real story is even more wild. I'll watch it again when it hits the streaming platforms.

Went Friday night with some friends and my son plus one of his friends and we all enjoyed it. If the topic/history interests you I'd recommend it.
I saw it, and I loved it. A bit of classic Guy Ritchie, a little Inglorious Bastards, and a little Indiana Jones. Great performances from Eiza Gonzalez, Babs Olusanmokun, and Til Schweiger in addition to the usual suspects.

Meh. Felt like somebody wanting to make a Tarantino homage...
