I certainly want to see this.
I also do NOT want to watch any trailers. Why? If I am pretty sure it will be a good movie (which I am) the trailer will only likely spoil the movie. Although, early trailers, like this, are generally less revealing then the later ones. I can be really hard though when they blast you with 5-8 or them before movies.
I really really really hate how much they give away in many trailers. I know it a business, and that it's about getting them in the seats, but it's still irritating.
The trailers I like the best are the ones that simply give the flavor / style of the movie, but pretty much ignore the plot points. I tried to not see the trailers for Edge of Tomorrow, but the freakin' poster / sub-title gives away a major plot point which would have been rather cool to see un-spoiled!!

Same here. I doubt I ever would've heard of the book until the movie came out if it wasn't for the GRM podcast.
Not sure how I'll feel about Matt Damon as Wanley. I picture Wanley as more geeky, maybe not as nice on the eyes as Damon. Damon however is a pretty down to earth guy who really appreciates his craft as well as the trades, and hopefully he'll be able to incorporate that "get it done" type of attitude that Wanley's character requires.

I can see Damon as Watney easily. I think he will be great.
Donald Glover as Rich Parnell seems weird (having read the book).
I prefer 'real' books, not Kindles etc so I bought the softback. GREAT read.
I think Matt Damon was the best choice, personally. I've always admired his work in the Bourne movies, among others. I think he'll pull it off. Hey, it could have been worse: there was a rumor Tom Cruise was angling for the part.
Whew, dodged THAT bullet.
About Cruise: I got 'Jack Reacher' from the $5 bin at Wal Mart, I have to admit he tried his ass off (it's about time he looked like he was doing something!) but he just was not suited for the part.

x2 Dont think I put it down till it was done.
I am so there. A great read and a needed message (It is a good thing to be able to take care of yourself, science and education help, individuals still matter, and yes we can pull together when needed), hell I'll pay money to see it just for the refreshment of something from hollywood that ISN'T dumb and dumber...
Official trailer for the movie:

Someone watch it and tell me if it has any spoilers.

Well, it does have Jeff Daniels in it so there is always a chance.

Jeff Daniels is awesome. Newsroom is by far one of the best tv shows ever created, and it would not be without him as the main character. He isn't just a comedian, he has some serious acting chops.
I read the book because someone on here mentioned it. It was phenomenal, almost like hacking a series of project cars, but with more science and your life on the line!
I don't picture Matt Damon in this role. Maybe more the guy who plays Hawkeye in the Avengers movies (Google tells me it's Jeremy Renner.).
