So on the CL there's a guy parting out a formerly white now typical flaking white early 90s Mazda 323. The car is actually in better condition than mine before I started on it, but I'm not going to fault him for parting it as if he has the time and space he'll make more from it as he'd be lucky to get 400 for the car as is. I'm picking up the hatcheck reflector garnish and A pillar trims pieces, which disappear from these cars, for $25 total, so I can't complain. The seller informed me that there was a guy there this morning taking a cut section to do a right 1/4, so the hatch garnish has been pulled for me, as he had to remove the hatch and pulled the trim when doing so, to make the quarter cut.

Someone's officially crazier then I am as you could pick up a clean BG 323 for less than the labor to do a 1/4 replacement. It's pretty awesome. I kinda want meet the person and chat BG chassis cars with them.

I took a sawzall to cut the front clip off a picknpull corpse, to replace the bent front of my open class awd bg protege rallycar. That has a Toyota alltrac gearbox grafted in. That got installed in the name of reliability. Howzat for crazy?

That actually makes sense as the front end swap was likely less of a pain then doing the E153 swap again. And that swap isn't about reliability, it's about the transmission not being a consumable on a bpt making more than 220hp. (Also see PAR box as a less headache filled solution)

Now if only we can get it to stop eating front CV boots. Spending big bucks on custom shafts and joints is not solving the issue. Now looking at whatever boots the desert trucks use, see if we can make those fit. Reliability!
