I'd love a good blizzard right now. My part of NC has been 5-10 degrees above normal lately. We saw 99 degrees in late May. Makes me fear what summer will bring.

Well, you can come out here - the rabbits in the garden seem to be changing their coats back to their winter coats...

Jeff, you should check this link to the best weather forecaster EVAR:

http://www.wsbradio.com/weblogs/kirk-mellishs-weather-commentary/2011/may/26/weather-outlook-summer-2011/

He accurately saw an early fast and hot start to this summer but sees a cooler-than-average summer once this part is over. His forecast for our spring was spot-on.

Mellish should be a star at places like TheWeatherChannel, but alas, he has a face for radio. But, he is godsend for folks in Atlanta and for WSB radio.

Here in SoFla it's sunny and 85*. And the tropics are kicking up. I hate hurricane season.

We really need a good hurricane.

Been 2 months since we've had rain. Last week was a full week of 100*+ weather.

We've started our workday at 5:00 AM because it is completely unbearable by 9:00. digging footings we are finding the soil is nothing but dust for nearly 2' deep.

One of those Cat 2 hurricanes that leaves a tropical depression sitting over us for a week straight would be glorious.

I recently moved back to Florida and was sort of looking forward to the "rainy season". By that, I mean it rains SOMEWHERES in this area during May & June, at least once a day, in "normal times". It gets to the point after a few days where you can set your watch by the rain showers....and plan accordingly. But instead, it has rained so little so far that instead of showers we are having fires.

You mean you're not counting that ash that's raining down as anything at all?

It rained almost every day here for about 2 months, and on a lot of those days, all day. Because it's been so wet, my club is just having it's first race of the season today. Every event had so far been cancelled, and I haven't ridden off road once yet this season.

My field hasn't been planted, and that should have been done 3-4 weeks ago. Finally it's warmed up, and been between 25-30 C for the last week. I've never seen so much rain in my life.

maybe not a blizzard (had enough of that in Dec and Jan... but this has been a bit on the hot side for May in my part of NC also ... about 200 mi west and 2000' higher than where Jef is

Jeez - here in the Charlotte area we've been seeing 94 to 99 almost every day for a bit over a week now. Just way too early in the year for this. Can't even count on the usual daily thunderstorm to cool things off anymore.

I'm in Austin and its been consistently much hotter. Ave highs for us in May are around 85 according to NWS, but every day has been pushing 100 with one day that hit 104. We broke two record highs and matched several others.

I don't normally mind high temps, especially because our humidities often range in the 20-50% range, but the day it was 104 it was 68% humidity. That sucked.

And the real bitch of it is, we haven't had hardly any rain. All of those weeks of flooding and heavy storms, we missed every single one by literally a couple miles. Georgetown was getting soaked and we watched the fireworks, but not a drop. I think we've had 2 inches in the last 6 months.

Summers in Jersey can be pleasant with only a few really warm days. Sorry you're experiencing a cold start to summer. If it were possible, I'd gladly send that extra 10 degrees we've had in Atlanta for the last couple of weeks.

Average June temps here are mid-80's but we have been in the mid-90's and the trend is forecast to continue for another week, or so.
