+1. I just dropped off a drum of used oil last night. I find that it is less difficult when they are closed.

You know... I have plans to 3d print pressure cookers.
EDIT: "I" being the name of an organization I have no affiliation with.

95% occupancy is pretty "meh" for a city of 1 million plus in the downtown core by my understanding.
Also:
" a financial meltdown that could mean employees don't get paid, retirees lose their pensions and residents endure even deeper cuts in municipal services."
You'd keep paying taxes/living there if this happened? I wouldn't. I know you have a big hard-on for Detroit, but the writing is basically on the wall. It may come back around, but if it is to truly succeed, it probably does need to go bankrupt, restructure a TON of E36 M3, raze half the city, and restart over again. Detroit still does (and always will IMO) serve a purpose. But we've come to the point of "too little, too late" and E36 M3 should have been taken care of loooooooooong ago. No need to go into the details of why that didn't happen though...
Edit- Also, as to the original topic, uh, the guy had a passport which is illegal (I'd be refused entry to a country if my Canadian passport had similiar issues) and a pressure cooker. And I quote Community "duh doi".

does Target buy their goods from US manufacturers ? or do they buy just as much as from China as does WM ?
and if it's the latter, how do they rate so much love from everyone ?

Everyone buys their stuff from china. I hate Target worse than Walmart as Target doesn't have any depth to what they stock, only carrying the top 2-3 products of each type and they are much more expensive than Walmart, but because they aren't visited as much they have cleaner rest rooms.
Troy, Michigan is home to Kmart - Back in the early 1980's; Kmart was #2 retailer wanting to knock down #1 Sears. Walmart was slow a little slow to enter the Detroit general area.
As a traveling salesman who eats a lot of garbage; Target bathrooms are really nice. Walmarts, McDonalds, and Speedway Gas Stations are for peeing only.
Thank you, thank you very much.

Next time try Bed Bath and Beyond. I'm pretty sure I've been the first person to use it each time I've gone in.

I agree with a lot of what you're saying, but that doesn't change the fact there are still hundreds of thousnad of people who live there and will continue to live there. Most dont' work for the city and will still have jobs no matter what happens to the 'city'
I also would never try and enter or leave a country with a damaged passport, dumb for anyone, especialy the U.S. post 9/11

Agree on the McDonald's bathrooms. It's not so bad now, but as a parent with small kids, I was always appalled at just how trashed their bathrooms were. And tall sinks, no step-stools, and no paper towels. For a place that markets to families, their bathrooms were a slap in a parent's face. Disgusting!

That's completely wrong. I'm in the business and 95% occupancy is "full." That's like 95% employment - there's no way to get to 100% without seriously harming the market. Average occupancy nationwide is well below 95%. I doubt Detroit's is even that high, that's a magical number. Columbus - which is a vibrant, thriving city, that's rapidly growing - downtown occupancy is around 85%. And that's really a great, healthy downtown with tons of development and renovation going on.

because they tend to treat their employees like people instead of slaves and they do not undercut their own profits to drive other stores out of business

I forget about them. They really do have the nicest bathrooms, but you can't find them as easily as a Target.
When I'm out and need a Target there's usually a reason and searching for a BB&B usually isn't in the cards.
I find the multiple conversations in this thread entertaining.
You know, I think the airline peanuts on Delta are better than the ones on United.

I would need a bathroom after eating either
I think I am going to write my congressman about adding some crock pots to the pressure cooker ban. I saw one at WalMart last night that appeared to be made of the same gray metal, had wires coming out of it and a rather ominous looking red digital display.
As far as public bathroom horror stories, Having worked outside in some of the more interesting areas of NYC I've got a few. To start I don't understand what would cause a person to E36 M3 anywhere other than in the bowl once they made it into the bathroom. One thing I've learned is hotels are you friend. Most chain hotels will let you use the bathroom as long as you look fairly presentable.

that's because the a-holes in columbus take all my tax money from the cleveland area, all the tax money from toledo, youngstown, and cincy/dayton, and pour it into their infrastructure to make themselves look nice, in turn boning the rest of us. our roads suck, columbus is getting new interchanges and highways and whatnot. i truly want the northern 1/6 of the state to secede from ohio and become the 51st state. or screw it, we can be first, ohio can be #51. ohio state can go right the hell along with it.
i wonder if that is happening in detroit, but i doubt it because the whole state except for oakland county is poor. they save their money by having rich people live in nice houses on dirt/gravel roads. never have i seen so many paved driveways on unpaved roads in my life.
walmart is the devil. if i get a walmart gift card, i re-gift it to someone i know shops there. i wish i could equally avoid the big box brand of everything and shop local, but unfortunately the local lumberyards and hardware stores went the way of the dodo when the big orange box moved in.

You jelly?
I highly doubt we're getting any money from Cleveland. I think it's more likely your shrinking population and receding suburbs have meant you have more roads than you can afford to maintain. But it's always fun for people to blame others for their problems.
