No way will I be destroying my childhood by watching this garbage. Not even if they have a new version of this in there:

I'll probably end up going to see it in the cheap theater for $2- the trailer didn't look -horrible-, but it will be interesting to see whether they play it 'straight' or as go for the social commentary route that the original did.

One nice thing for the producers of the remake: they likely didn't need to do any set dressing- just film in Detroit as it is now!

If you built an SUX6000 replica for Lemons, there is no way you wouldn't get in.

Incredibly strong, except for the human hand. In the original, they had the sense to go full prosthetic. "Loose the arm". And how come no bad guy figures out to shoot him in the chin? The brain is right back there, a good upward angle and that guy is a pile of scrap.

For some stupid reason, I came back to this thread. Does the "new" robocop bother me because he's way too human and it doesn't appear nearly as dystopian and scary, which made the old robocop a classic? Absolutely. Have to remember, old robocop is nearly 30 years old. A LARGE portion of people going to see action movies these days are going to have little to no memory of Robocop- this will be the only one they know. For them it's a fresh start. I still have my reservations, but i'm willing to see it under the "new eyes" guise. A fun movie is a fun movie. Sorta like Bay-formers. I grew up with Casey Casem doing voices and Optimus being a Peterbuilt. Am I mad he was a Freightliner? Nope, he looked pretty badass. I can respect what the original was, but the new one has the potential to bring new stuff to the table, just due to advancement of technology. While Robocop still looks pretty good, ED-209 looks like hell, and the "future" technology in Robocop makes my brain hurt. THOUGH- I still want the foldy gun the kid had in Robocop 2.

And was/is voiced by Peter Cullin.

What made the original RoboCop good was the social commentary. I fear the new one will be Bay-splosions and plotless.

I will watch it if they get him on a unicorn, though.
