However, none of their stuff makes any sense sober.

Not true. I don't think it's the greatest stuff EVARRRRR, but the lyrics to many of their songs are perfectly understandable. I also like Rush, but I'm not a rabid fan.

The only recipe for a good martini is two ounces of cheap bourbon, then some coca cola.

Metallica is a legendary band that isn't making legendary music anymore, but they get a pass, pretty much no matter what.  The black album may have been there last great album from start to finish, but they've done some really great stuff since then. Whiskey in the jar, stone cold crazy, and hero of the day of the day are three of my favorite metallica songs, all post black album.

Rush and van Halen are mediocre. Pink Floyd sucks.

2 of those 3 you posted are covers too lol

I'm fully aware they are covers, and I'm fully ok with it. They rocked that E36 M3. If you make me a kick ass taco I'm not gonna complain because you didn't invent  the taco.

Justice is the only great album Metallica ever recorded. Prove me wrong.

Between this statement and the people who don't like Rush, I'm not sure who is trolling and who is just mistaken.

I can't prove you wrong, all I can do is shake my head and feel sad for you. Or I can assume that you just don't like the bass guitar.

I was half-joking...and misquoting the "change my mind" meme. Durp.

As much as people bag on the mix for that album having no bass (including the guy who engineered it,) I can't imagine it sounding any other way. I can't think of a single thrash band at the time whose records sounded as tight and "crisp" as that record. To me, it really set the bar. Listening to a lot of modern thrashy-er metal, the bass is way too pronounced in the mix. Not that it should necessarily disappear entirely, but if it's just riding with the guitar, I'd rather be able to crank the bass up myself than have to turn it down so I can hear the damned song. If Newstead's parts were as critical to the songs as Ellefson's parts, I could understand wanting to hear them more.

I totally understand. As a bass player I can say the mix on Justice sounds just right to my ear. It is a great record. Maybe I should just use your original statement as a way to troll the guys I know who say Metallica died with Burton. Just for fun.

Shots of vodka are for trying to reach a certain goal not about sipping a fine bourbon or tequila on warm patio.

Shots of vodka are definitely not about sipping bourbon or tequila. That's just observant right there.

Just because you don't know about or understand something you shouldn't make assumptions.

I'll break it down since it apparently it wasn't obvious (sorry I left out the comma).

If you're taking shots of Vodka, you are trying to get drunk. Not like sipping a nice bourbon or tequila where you appreciate the nuance of flavors between brands and aging, etc.

If I want to get smashed, yeah I'll throw down a few shots of Vodka.

But I won't be wasting Don Julio Anejo or Woodford Reserve by slamming shots.
