yeah, I've seen the caller ID "phone scam"... knowing it was a scam I went ahead and answered .... as with MANY of the phone calls I receive there was no one on the other end of the call....

what is it about the DO NOT CALL LIST that these scumbags don't understand... most of the calls have false/fake phone #'s on the caller ID so I can't turn them in to the State Attorney General's office

It is easy to fill an on-line complaint with the FCC.

It may seem like nothing happens but you will get a letter from the FCC and they will use your info in building a case. The fines are per-incident but it required a complaint to be an incident.

It must be a popular one, as soon as I had entered the area code into Google the entire number popped up as the first hit.

Great truth in advertising...

As far as the "Do not call lists", you do realize there is a federal list and there are state lists? I'm not sure why you have to be registered on both, but it supposedly matters. If there are state lists, I wonder if you need to be on the DNC lists of all 50 states and not just the state you live in?

If you are called by any "random" business and you answer the phone, that can be construed as starting a "relationship" with that business, and they can now "ignore" your do not call ...advisory?

Charities and those (supposedly?) working for charities, are completely exempt from the DNC list. Churches or anyone else soliciting a buck can call you whenever as often as they want...until it becomes harassment.

You'll need to log in to post.
