Other ultra-Canadian aspects to this are (1a) that the Zamboni isn't licensed for the road, but the owner drove it home anyway in defiance of the law; (1b) that nobody cared enough about the flagrant lawbreaking to do something about it; (1c) that the owner nevertheless says he won't do it again; and (2) that the Zamboni is for his rink AT HOME – you know, in the yard.

The only thing I see that contradicts the stereotypes is that he ordered a hot chocolate and not a double double.

I didn't have time last night to post that when I saw it. Long story, girlfriend's lavalamp bulb burnt out, busy trying to find one. Those things are stupid hard to find in the frozen north. E17 base r14 bulb. Got them off Ebay, finally.
It's the interior light bulb for a stove, BTW.
I have never owned or driven a Zamboni. But I have had a backyard rink, and you can skate downtown from my parent's house. It's not unusual to see people walking around downtown Ottawa with skates slung over their shoulders. In winter.
