How any of these guys still have skin is beyond me.

I saw one of those mono wheel videos a while back, I can't figure out how riding one of those things is even possible.

They've been around for a while

After seeing someone eat it on a one-wheel and break their arm so bad I saw bone, I have vowed never to ride one, but this is very impressive.

I might suggest that there is something of a difference between riding a one-wheel ( whilst wearing proper protective gear ), and racing a one-wheel. What is the top speed on one of those things? Those guys appeared to be flying.
I was hiking to a fishing spot well off any paved paths (maybe 1/4 mile away from the closest pavement?) and was caught up to by a group of guys riding these. I was shocked that they could go off road, and they did have to stop for some of the big stump crossings, but they did pretty well!
Those Equadorian gravity racers are nuts. The lower class of wooden ones , with pull rope steering look positively suicidal. We built these as kids and are lucky to have not broken any major bones on a 1/2 mile long hill. i can't imagine doing on the hill in the video.

I think the top speed for competition ones is close to 40 mph. But the guy I saw was simply riding at maybe 15 mph, hit a crack, lost control, and then BOOM—broken arm. Even normal ones can push 25 to 30 mph though.
I was in the emergency room one Saturday night around midnight trying to get some antibiotics for an infected tooth, when they placed four really drunk boys into my room, one who broke his leg racing down a street on a long board. Luckily for him, he wasn't feeling any pain because when you're drunk, they won't give you any pain pills.
I love how humans will race damn near anything.
In the top video, you can just catch a glimpse of the speed on the rider's right wrist. He was doing 76km/h or about 47mph at that moment.
A buddy of mine got smacked by a delivery truck that wasn't paying attention while on his One Wheel. He got messed up pretty bad. He ended up under the truck! After seeing what happened to him, I don't have much of a desire to get on one, but watching others race the things isn't out of the question.
Is this the one? The guy filming on the Uni really should rethink the gloves. =~ (
In reply to JG Pasterjak :
I'm told the Uni track is in Winchester, CA. It's a 1 mile track for electric and gas go-karts. One in Winchester, CA and one in Whiteland, Indiana.

That was hard to watch, kind of like the Star Wars Millennium Falcon racing through the astroid field.
