Went in a Goodwill with the fam on a lark yesterday, much better quality goods than I see at the local outfit. Snagged a near mint 1993 Technics SL-PD847 5 disc CD changer for $6! Missing remote($18 shipped on ebay) and a power cable(grabbed one from the junk bin). Works perfectly, will have to put it away for a future garage audio project.

Anyone else get a diamond in the rough?

EDIT: wrong forum as per usual (facepalm)

A friend just picked up a Doors boxed set on vinyl for $5. He said it's all of the albums, and half were still in their wrappers. The others look to have been played little to none. He's planning on a fun weekend.

I have a L.L.Bean Maine Forest Ranger down parka that I got for $25. Also bought 2 leather jackets and a Dockers windbreaker for a combined total of $34. Can't complain about my clothing costs.

I don't go much myself just sometime with the wife. I picked up a SLR camera for $20 and sold it to someone in Japan for $110. Found an aluminum tennis racket for $.90, small file cabinet $3, sickle $4 (CCCP style), cop style aluminum half clip board $3. The wife brings home 1 years supply of baby clothes for our daughter for ~$20.

I once bought a hilarious T-shirt that was for an OB-GYN office I think. The front chest said "Laboratory Physicians" and the back said "Cervix with a smile" and it had a smiley face on it.

I also once bought this bitchin denim jacket with a big embroidered DirecTV logo on the back. I stopped wearing it when people kept asking me about their TV systems.

I once bought several leather jackets at a good will and used the material for upholstering an Opel. Does that count?

All of my garage stereos have come from thrift shopping, and then it's easy to just leave them installed when you move on.

I knew someone would post the Mackelmore song. I'm not a big fan of the original, but LOVE this swing cover of the song.

I bought a bread machine for $7. The little old lady said "Now, we have a guarantee on our items. If it doesn't work in 30 days, you can bring it back for store credit. We can't give a refund..." I said: "Mam, you're a charity thrift store. I'll take my chances." The bread machine was like new. Maybe used once, and that's a maybe. I put it on the shelf in the garage for that time when I needed another bread machine. I usually need a new bread machine the day after Christmas. You try finding a bread machine the day after Christmas. Anyway, that time hit today when the Cuisinart crapped out and I pulled my $7 find down.

I scored a beautiful tweed jacket, made in Scotland, for $5 at the Salvation army thrift store. That was early 90's. I still have it, and they're back in style. Got a nice pair of Italian leather shoes at the same time, for about the same price, but I wore them out.

I bought a '68 Akai reel-to-reel tape player for $35 that works great. I'm having a hard time finding pre-recorded tapes for it locally, and I don't trust buying something like that at a distance.

Today I bought a Sansui SR-929 turntable at the church thrift sale for $25. They are apparently a fairly rare, desirable unit that usually goes for $400+ used. It seems to work fine but i have to find a phono preamp before I can really listen to it on my home theater system.

This forum being the first place I heard of Electro Swing, this seems appropriate.

[giggle] Do realize that we just posted the same band, same song, but two different versions off the same "album"? I linked to track #2 and you linked to track#5

Yeah, but even if it's included on the same album, the fact that we got the original, the cover, and a remix of the cover done in a style I'd never have heard of if it weren't for this forum all in sequence just seemed to close the loop so tidily...

I bought a full suit from an upscale men's fine clothing outfitter that actually fit (6'-3" ~255lbs) for $9.00.

I predict I will wear this suit (relative's upcoming wedding) exactly once.

Ps, I read a article in HRM about a guy who built a look-a-like Henderson motorcycle. He had an old thrift store leather briefcase he used to upholster the seat, looked perfectly period.

I've scored a lot of yard sale weight sets and a cpl sets of tires.

I go to a lot of antique stores. I recently bought a railroad spike puller (massive crowbar) for 45 dollars and used it twice Saturday.

I bought 3 sets of fishing weight molds I pour extra lead into (I use it for vehicle ballast and body work)

I bought a Wilton 1750 vice for 35 dollars and most everybody around here saves me spanner wrenches and shift knobs... Which I give away to the right car guys.

I like Macklemore... The original. Honestly though the only rap like song I know.

We have a junkyard with a DeLorean in it. Wizards auto Henderson Ky.

I know there is a sweet Nascar Technical Institute shirt I found.
I've found about 3 plaid sports coats.
Countless Ford shirts.
A ton of striped collared shirts that are great for concealing a weapon.
This Corona shirt:
I found a really sweet classic pattern dress shirt that looked like your grandma's curtans.
I could probably go on for days...
