Found a ticket on Craigslist for the "Ferrari Agility Experience". Normally I wouldn't care about something like this but it's only $50 and it gets your 3 laps in a Ferrari. Then I checked the website and it suggested tipping the driving instruction sherpas 20% of the ticket price ($549). Now it went from "who cares it's only $50" to "i care, its $150". Do these guys really make that much money from this? Looks like I need to change my career path.

I think it falls under the umbrella of a lost of uncertain/contract types of work; You get to make $100 very quickly, but you don't get to do it all that regularly, and you spend a bunch of time and effort setting up the opportunity to do so...
Disgusting, I know, but I'd go for it anyway to show that crowd how a real car guy drives
Underdog victory is the best victory! Get time in on a sim on the same track if you can.
Good luck becoming a Ferrari driving instructor though ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/crazy-18.png)

The "track" is an autocross course on a driving pad.
Wait until you see all the insurance premiums you have to pay to actually drive!

Those sorts of events have been in the news quite a bit. A pair of "instructors" recently killed a motorcyclist while racing on stadium access roads (NJ, I think last year). I wouldn't be comfortable anywhere near one of these events, let alone behind the wheel with some unknown "instructor".
Besides, it's not like you're going to get to enjoy the cars, they'll wussify the courses so much you'll beg for the freedom of the 15mph stadium road.
