As some of you might know, I have my bicycle listed for sale on Craigslist. Long story short is I bought another bike and need to get rid of the one I have for sale. I have it listed for $295 and have had someone look at it already but they aren't sure when the funds might come available to buy it. I have had a couple other emails of people offering me $215 for it. Granted, it isn't my full asking price but it would get out of my garage. In a situation, would you take a lower return to get rid of it or hold out for top price? I just don't want this to sit on this for more than needed.

You have to decide if it will annoy you $80 worth over the next couple weeks. That depends on how much $80 means to you, which can vary widely.

It wouldn't bother me too much honestly. I could just sell some other items and put the proceeds towards the difference.

Bicycles are space intensive and typically a net loss. Sell it for whatever you can get, unless you're getting lots of offers. In which case ask for say...$230.

I've had three offers so far. One has come out and looked the bike but i'm not sure when they would be able to get the funds for it. Two other have been email only and one is non existent and the other seems really interested and ready to buy something asap.

I won't accept offers from people over the phone/email. Offers in person after they've viewed the item are encouraged. What are you realistically looking to get for it?

You're well within your rights to counter-offer (i.e. $295 initial price, $215 offer, you counter with $245, they accept).

I'd realistically like to get $250 for it..

I'm usually in for the quick sale just because I hate dealing with multiple people/buyers. A friend of mine is just the opposite....they spent over a year trying to sell a car, dealt with dozens (maybe over a hundred) calls, emails, visits and now finally have a deposit. I couldn't stand that. I much prefer to sell to the first person that comes to look at the item and have no problems at all negotiating through text, email, or phone.

I've sold a couple bicycles on CL recently and am trying to sell a third. I'd say sell it to whoever the first person standing in front of you with cash in hand is as long as the offer is not a ridiculous lowball (it usually isn't). This is especially true at that price point. In my experience, people who "don't have the money right now" rarely ever manage to close a deal. The same is true of the people who like to drag out negotiations over email or phone/text.
