Streetwiseguy said:There is a guy named Terry O'Reilly who does podcasts, usually about marketing. He's really entertaining, and today's episode was about marketing contests gone wrong.
TIL that Pitbull has a great sense of humor, and honor, I guess. Walmart and some caffeine strip company set up a contest where the Walmart that got the most follows on Facebook got a Pitbull concert. Some dude in Boston started an "Exile Pitbull" page, and a fly-in only town in Alaska with 5000 people won by a ton. Pitbull went up there in his jet, after picking up the guy who started the exile deal, and charmed the E36 M3 out of a whole town.
Under the Influence for those that are interested, the latest episode from May 18 if you want to listen.

I deleted my words based on your edit. Like I said you are a good dude. Always felt that way, still do!
In reply to Streetwiseguy :
Also the Harry Balls episode, which suddenly seems relevant. I heard the one about the Weinermobile recently too.
I alternate between that and The cost of living now on my drive to and from work.

I wonder if they’ll change the song? I don’t think “I wish I was an Oscar Mayer Frankfurter” will have the same ring.
In reply to 914Driver :
It’s not that word, it’s someone in corporate thinking they’re “rebranding “. Apparently they’re changing the recipe and “frankfurter” implies “old world” ingredients or something. Uh, it’s a hot dog and nothing in a name change is going to make them good for you. But with a nice butter toasted bun and hot off the grille with proper condiments and a cold beer... (Thanks for the edit BTW!)
TIL that Nankang makes their 100tw tire in a 275/35R15 size. Now, if they'd just offer the 200TW CR-S in that size
TIL that my deceased father rather ambitiously subscribed to Time magazine out through December of 2025.
TIL that my 91 year old Mother had a V8 juice can with a hollow bottom in the fridge, slipped inside was a glass jar full of 50s. As I have 5 brothers, I told one; "Really, that's not the one I knew about".
My youngest brother says "Ever lift that rusty can of Campbells in the pantry?".
Gonna be fun-ish.
TIL that Toyota made some inboard ski boats in the 90s/early 00's. They put a Lexus V8 in it.
This has to be the best engine ever put on a boat.

You could buy new not-leftover RX-7s in 1996.
after 1981 they can't the model year is in the vin number. however this leads to some fun stuff. because the idea of the model year is to goalpost safety and emissions standards for the government, it really does not have to do with the calendar year.
for instance the US model 1993 Rx7's "P", were all assembled between December of 1991 and May or June of 1992. so there were no 1993 model year Rx7s made in the calendar year of 1993...
it happened again in 1995, Mazda made the first batch at the "normal" time. when it became clear there was not going to be a 1996 model for North America, they made another batch of 1995's in December of 1995 still S vin, so the cars didn't even get to the US until February 1996, at the earliest.
it probably overlaps the JDM 1996 models for a couple weeks. Mazda can (and does!) makes different specs at the same time. if you go back to 1985, i think they were making the FB and the FC together
Bought two LED solar lights that look like rocks to light the large flag across my porch.
TIL the town replaced street lights with BRILLIANT ICE WHITE LEDs. Stupid rocks think the sun is up and don't come on =~ (
