I like the movie Real Steel. TIL that "Tallet's Gym" is actually the former Detroit Fire Department HQ.

Unfortunately I found out that celery and coffee together is not a good combination of flavors! I was cutting up some veggies this morning for Jen to take to work as snacks. I had a piece of celery that didn't fit in the snack bag, so I chomped it down. I then grabbed my coffee from the counter to walk to the living room and took a big swig. YUCK!!!! Those two items, for whatever reason, do not compliment one another. Don't take my word for it, give it a try.........
TIL Rosie O'Donnell is moving to Ireland.
NOT INTENDED TO BE POLITICAL, it's something I learned today. Erase this if you see fit.
You beat me to it. I once got a few of my curly locks caught up in a spinning drill bit on a machine I was setting up and learned a lesson.

Yes it is a rendering, but it's very close to life and we do have for-real photographs of the phenomenon.

In WW2 the men were off fighting and women got jobs in factories. Due to hair safety, famous actresses of the day changed their hair style to "Victory Roll Hairstyles". Hair is up and out of the way but also stylish.
I'm still surprised and disappointed to see guys on the car shows not wearing safety glasses. Because of my work, I can never have an MRI.

It's really E36 M3ty that cars are getting vandalized simply because idiots don't like the owner of the car company that built the cars

Ever drive a Prius and another car back to back? It is amazing how much more aggressive people are to you in the Prius.
I also have never heard of a Diesel pump getting vandalized the way charging systems do.
TIL the Incredible Hulk is/should be an Ireland Superhero.
1. He's green
2. He's easy to anger
3. He loves to fight.
TIL (from a German car magazine) that the first generation Cayenne GTS was available with a manual transmission. Well, over in Germany, I can't see that combination being sold over here.

I didn't know that - cool information about the women workers.
In 1975 a young lady got her long hair caught in a metal lathe in metals class in my high school - I'll hold off on details.
When I came along in 1976 we all had to wear "Dutch boy" hats to hold our long hair in metals class.
Teacher who was there that day had a serious safety discussion the first day since the accident was on his watch. I still shudder at the thought....

Having once had almost waist length hair, I would have thought it would be obvious. I was doing landscaping maintenance at the time, definitely kept mine pulled back.

I never had anyone really mentor me with tools, sports, etc. so I wonder if that's the kind of tip I might have picked up from someone had I tagged along when I was young? Certainly when you're a grown adult using tools around other adults you're not getting minor safety tips unless they're either pushy and/or you're highly sketchy.
So yeah, I'm rethinking all of the things I let the kids do or help out with -- even with close supervision. I just might not be aware of really dangerous things!
I happened to be standing right next to her, she's 8 and we were tapping the maple tree in the front yard, but it happened in the blink of an eye. Ugh. My heart hurts for her. It ripped out most of her long, glorious hair from the right side of her head, thankfully did not tear her scalp. Datsun240ZGuy, thanks for not going into details. My imagination is bad enough. And my wife has been having to process the fears that flashed through her mind when she heard our little pumpkin's screams.
My wife is doing a very effective combover for her, but her irregular hair will be a reminder for a couple years now :(

Vandalizing EVs is nothing new. It's only newsworthy because it's a different group doing it now.
In reply to Datsun240ZGuy :
When I was on the prototype line, my boss had a bit of a limp. Someone was drilling a 5/8" hole in a 105mm breech block, the hole was 2" above center. The bar you put behind the work to stop it if something happens wasn't applied, guy thought the block was heavy enough. Well, the drill grabbed and this shoe box of 4340 was whipping around the table at 500 RPM. A crowd gathered, the on-off button was under the table! As they stood around waiting for the electrician to kill the power var, the drill broke, the Block flies off hitting Frank in the knee.
