One of the hardest things I've done in life. There is a lot of backstory here but My wife took our dog Winnie Saturday morning for a checkup as she has been fighting cancer and she had to make the decision for her quality of life. I wasnt there as I was working and we didn't expect this outcome. She made the right choice. We've never had to do this separately.
Today we picked her up from the vet and took her to be cremated. Inside I did not want to go but we have always taken our friends on the last ride.
It was hard, and it hurt real, real bad, but it did help with starting to have closure.
I was able to hug her and give her a last kiss for the ten years of joy she brought us. I miss you Winnie Poo!

My deepest condolences for your loss. She looks like a peach. It is always a tough decision to make, but in the end, you can tell when it is time. It's a shame your wife had to go it alone, but it sounds like she was strong.
My thoughts are with your family.

So sorry. It's just the absolute pits. You manned up and did what was right. That doesn't mean it hurts less.
Back in April we had to say goodbye to our 12 year old dog. She had liver cancer but we knew and gave her the best possible months until the end. It just shattered us. Although we've both had several dogs, for some reason she was like our child. We have no plans to get another dog. It hurt that bad.
I know what you are going through. It's heavy E36 M3.
Dogs are the best. RIP, Winnie.

So sorry for your loss. We had to do that with our beloved yellow Lab last year. Still hurts.
Sorry for your loss. I had Petey for 12 years, lost him 8 years ago and still miss him. He was a real special friend.
Thank you everyone for the kind words. Had to work today and was trying to stay focused and I wanted a moment to myself when I checked back in.
You all are the best!

Sad news. My condolences.
Sorry for your loss. This never gets easy. Been there too many times with our greyhounds.
E36 M3, I'm sorry to hear that, we had to euthanize my dad's dog recently and it sucked a lot.
There's something about a dogs love that makes it devastating to lose, it's unconditional and pure. It doesn't seem right that it's gone
After my wife's son passed away, we inherited his boxer (Champ). Having our two dogs, and having just (one week before) inherited her mom's dog (bad week on my wife!), we let Champ go to a friends, as she loves boxers and had the room. We all had to make the decision to let him go (cancer) this weekend, as well. So we are right there with ya, and share your pain. Losing a loyal friend is tough.
The saddest kind of day. Sorry for the loss of your beloved pup.
So sorry for your loss. I'm sure you gave her a great life and remember the good time!
I'm sorry for your loss. Been through this a few times over the years, and it's never easy.
Sorry for your loss. Nothing worse than losing a dog.
I am so sorry, its never easy. Our oldest dog, 15, is getting close to that point. We are having a hard time getting her to eat and she has kidney problems.
