This may be an odd question...
So, lets say you are looking for a specific type of car, and that these cars are rare around your area. You find one that fits your criteria in all ways, exept the paint is a fairly flashy kind of cherry red. (I belive their name for it is Infra Red)
What can you do, besides a re-spray, to tone this car down? Dark wheels? Keep it dirty? Never wash rallycross mud off of it?

Vinyl wrap into the color of your choice?
Plaster with GRM stickers?
Fast and Furious side graphics? (oh wait, you wanted to tone it down)
Whatever happened to that temporary spray paint that supposedly washed off?
some Boss stick on-stripes from JC whitney

Boy do I understand this - I'm selling my 911 for no other reason than I just can't love the red. I figured it would grow on me or I'd find a way to mute it but... its freakin' HEY LOOK AT ME red. Now I know why there are so many brown 911s.

This thread is useless without pictures. What car are we talking about, Bob?
Wear sunglasses, even at night.

I, for one, LOVE your 964 in red. I think it's gorgeous.

If it's a Harlequin, you kill it with fire.
(Apologies if that's your car.)
Attempt to guess car...
Since this GRM my guess is a Mazda 3 but in that really, really red they offered.
Harlequins....I can't believe the factory did this.
I agree with the "wrap" suggestion. However, keep in mind that a wrap should be done on the whole car, otherwise some sections will fade a little bit more than others....assuming you can keep the car. Without knowing the model of car, it's hard to make other suggestions.
Keep in mind, this color is probably quite safe, as other drivers see you coming MILES away....unfortunately, so do the police.

Our 911 is red too. I've learned to deal with it. I've slowed down. There's nothing that grabs the constables attention like a bright red 911.

Focus SVT?
I LOVE the Harlequin paint scheme. I have a favorite Brooks Brothers shirt that's like that, different color stripe for every panel of cloth that makes it up. Of course, everytime I wear it someone tells me how much they hate it.

<--- Infra Red. But I don't think that it is a flashy color.
North Carolina sun will take care of that in no time. I hope you'd rather Infra Pink.
