Beyond the right wingers and congress. I don think America really cared about "fast and furious".
I can tell you I don't really care.

That's because most of America is berkeleying stupid.

Ahh.. the everyone is stupid but me defense. Logical fallacy burrito. First person to use the word Sheeple loses.
Look my only point is that.. People tried to get people to care and noone did. Was it a dumb idea, sure.. But in the grand scheme of things it was a small incident. What really made people mad was he was politically savy enough to stonewall congress and get away from it, and he got away with it...
I demand that we indite FDR for having his secret service guards seize, without a warrant, the film of any person who filmed him in his braces or stumbling around..

Wait wait wait. I know you're not an idiot, even though you're politically opposite from me on pretty much everything, but other than being an apologist for the current administration, how can you possibly say that you don't care about the gun running program called "Fast and Furious"? Seriously? That doesn't bother you?
In reply to Fueled by Caffeine:
Well, anyone that doesn't care about it is, well,...most of the reason we have idiots running this country. When people don't pay attention, bad E36 M3 happens.
In reply to bravenrace:
This is very very true. The other E36 M3ty thing was the ATF rolling through and taking away people's businesses for selling to those straw purchasers in the first place....despite the fact the ATF had given the go ahead.
In reply to Fueled by Caffeine:
Your claimed ambivalence, shared by America, is why the government (under either party) gets away with the e36m3 it does. The "I don't care defense" does not trump the "everyone is stupid but me" alternative; it makes it stronger.
Yeah, sending thousands of firearms to drug lords to rage a drug war amongst themselves along our border and kill hundreds of people isn't something we should bother concerning ourselves with. That one star with that one star for a bf just had a baby. We should totally look at that instead.

It was a very poor program. I think it was really really stupid, but if I was to force rank the stuff that I think the current administration is doing wrong.. It would be near the bottom. I think he screwed up enough with foreign policy and domestic policy that I'd rather spend my time elsewhere. It just doesn't rank.

Uh huh.
Look my only point is that.. People tried to get people to care and noone did.
See my previous statement. Most people have their head so far up their ass that they only give a berkeley about what the government is doing when it affects them. Which is why I say stupid.
Was it a dumb idea, sure.. But in the grand scheme of things it was a small incident.
A small incident that resulted in the deaths of a few hundred people on two borders, and since they still haven't retrieved all of the firearms used, will more than likely add a few more to that number as time goes on. Totally not important that a branch of the DOJ berkeleyed up that badly.
What really made people mad was he was politically savy enough to stonewall congress and get away from it, and he got away with it...
Yes, that is totally the only reason people got mad. And if by politically savvy you mean simply refusing to cooperate and more than likely straight up lying to congress, then sure, he's savvy as a motherberkeleyer.
I demand that we indite FDR for having his secret service guards seize, without a warrant, the film of any person who filmed him in his braces or stumbling around..
Great example, considering all the other reasons FDR should have hung, wheelchair and all.

I don't care is a concious choice on my behalf to ignore the issue because I see it as minor in the grand scheme of things.
Everyone is stupid but me, is self justification for your beliefs when you find out not many believe the way you do.

at the same time that a war is going on and thousands of people are dying?
thousands> hundreds..

Ahh... the old "you won't listen to me tell you you're wrong so I am going to play the 'I'm out because I'm better than you' card." Sweet. Some things just never change.... and that's why our entire country is being run by idiots, liars and thieves.

I'm just trying to know where my limit is and I'm not drag the board down any more. I said my piece and I'm out in deference to greater good. You also missed the part where I said I thought it was a bad idea, just not something that rated.

BS. If that were the case you wouldn't have even thrown out that statement. That was your way of calling everyone else a dick for not agreeing with you. Don't try to play the "high and mighty" card after that E36 M3. Own it or don't say it.

I'm better than you. You know, I know.. Let's just get it out there.

So what you're saying is that you're completely incapable of focusing on more than one thing at a time.
Yes, thousands > hundreds. But that doesn't make the hundreds inconsequential.
The fact that the Government gave itself the power to kill its citizens without trial isn't important because there's no way they'd use it poorly
The fact that the Government has been spying on us isn't important because there's no way they'd use the information against us.
The fact that the Government is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of people in one country isn't important because the Government is also responsible for more deaths in other countries.
The fact that the Government is stonewalling an investigation into the fact that they're responsible for the deaths of hundreds of people isn't important because they're just being "politically savvy"
The fact that the Government thinks kicking in doors and shooting first is an acceptable tactic isn't important because they mostly don't berkeley it up that much.
And so on and so forth until the end of goddamn time.

Condescension and ridicule; the Ig we love has returned.
You're right that Fast and Furious is (by itself) relatively minor but it's only one entry in a litany of egregious Constitutional offenses. Let me at least commend you for recognizing the unrelenting incompetence of the crew that was promoted as world saviors.
