The action starts (and slows down) at the 2 minute mark.

There's some light, but intrusive music during the slo mo.

You can see the firing order of the V8 very clearly.

Oh, it does come in HD. Looked good on my 27" monitor here.

Wow, I've seen the tire distortion at the start before, but did you see how out of shape the tires were later in the run?
watch the live broadcast of any NHRA race, and they will show a slow motion replay of almost every run.. they show them from every angle- it's just amazing how much the bodies on a Top Fuel Dragster twists and shakes as it goes down the track..even the Funny Cars have all sorts of weirdness going on in the bodies..
What is it with vimeo? They appear to have "special needs." All I get is a static image. I can play videos on any other site and my flash is up-to-date. Retarded!

Yeah, this is nothing new. And check out the exploding funny car of Todd Lesenko:

Yeah, it sat for a minute before anything even happened. While I was waiting I went to the youtubes and watched 4 NHRA videos at 1200 or 1600 fps.
I have a feeling you'd be hard-pressed to get an answer from them since it's such a big part of the performance of the cars. I was in the paddocks at an F1 race years ago and asked the same question. I got the stink-eye from a German soo bad I almost cried.

As low as 5 psi, but usually between 5 and 10 psi.

Actually, they provided that answer on a telecast just a week or two ago.

Cool. I honestly didn't understand the issue at the F1 race. While I don't know what tire pressure they run, I'd bet every team is within a few tenths of a pound, so to just tell me a round number wouldn't be giving away any secrets.
I'd have guessed a low number, but not quite that low.

Thats exactly what I was thinking. I understand the sidewall wrinkle at the start and the top of the tire at speed is taller because of centrifugal force, but the transition from the ground to the top of the tire down the track is pretty crazy looking.
Anymore, what with being too busy with my own damn racin' cars to watch racin' on the tee vee, I'm down to NHRA as my spectator sport. I spool through top fuel and funny car on the DVR for a few minutes before bed, fast forwarding through all the interstitial bullsh1t (hereafter referred to as "ISB").
You can get a whole race day watched in 1/2 hour.
And an in-car shot of a good FC run gives me the willies. I'd LOVE to get to drive a remotely fast drag race car, like an alcohol dragster, once.
