Currently, we live on a small island just larger than our house. Feels good, we have finally made it. My deck is now a dock.

Water is up to but not yet inside the back garage. Gonna fix that by not looking out the back windows any more.

All our little vent tops/shelters/whatchamacallits point South, which is where the wind has been gusting from. Which makes me think maybe the bubbling is just air back feeding and not septic flooding?

That's my suspicion.  I dont think its strong enough evidence to warrant taking any emergency action in the middle of this though.   That said, I'm just armcharing here and its not my profession.

In regards to the no wake zone.  Gotta stop the people who would get their boats out and try to jet sprint the neighborhoods.

I'm just a few miles south of Mr. Asa. Power has been out since 4pm yesterday. No damage to the house as far as I can tell. I'm not in a flood zone but there is a large pond about 20ft behind my back patio. Thankfully it did not flood.

GF's house in NPR seems to have been spared. Duke Energy's outage map shows no outages in her neighborhood but I don't know how accurate that is. The storm shelter she is working at is about to close and the county employees are about to be released.

I feel extremely thankful that me and her escaped any major damage. My heart goes out to those in Ft. Meyers and surrounding areas. They basically got hit head on by Ian.

No power since 10 pm Wednesday night here in Winter Park. Limbs are down on power lines 2 houses down. Went outside and didnt see any missing shingles on my roof so that's lucky. Stay safe out there folks.

IIRC Mr_Asa is in Lithia. I remember that because I lived in Lithia 2005-2010.

Seems like you're not far from my parents winter house in Little Manatee Springs (Wimauma). Neighbors say no flooding and carport is intact so it sounds like they dodged a bullet.

Wish everyone else was so fortunate. Pictures look bad.

Subject: FW: Tropical Storm Ian Advisory 34

Tropical Storm Ian Advisory 34
Valid: 09:00 AM CDT Thursday September 29, 2022

Tropical Storm Ian Track Chart, Advisory #34

Current Location: 28.7N, 80.6W
Geographic Reference: Over Cape Canaveral, FL
Movement: North-northeast at 9 mph
Max Winds: 65 mph gusting to 80 mph
Current Hurricane Severity Index: 6 out of a possible 50 points (3 size, 3 intensity)
Max Predicted Hurricane Severity Index: 8 out of a possible 50 points (4 size, 4 intensity)
Current Radius of Tropical Storm-Force Winds: 220 miles
Max Predicted Radius of Tropical Storm-Force Winds: 275 miles
Organizational Trend: Weakening
Forecast Confidence: Above Average
Estimated Central Pressure: 988 mb

Key Points
1. Ian is predicted to make landfall near Charleston, SC around noon tomorrow as a strong tropical storm.
2. Ian will likely be in the process of transitioning into a larger non-tropical storm on Friday,
3. Strong tropical storm force wind will likely be confined to coastal counties of South Carolina.

Our Forecast
Ian is moving back out over the water this morning, but it is clearly much less organized today. Quite cool and dry air is flowing southward off the southeast U.S. Coast toward Ian now. This cool, dry air will be impacting Ian today and Friday, causing its wind field to expand significantly to the northeast and east, though its core may weaken as it begins losing tropical characteristics tomorrow.

Our forecast takes Ian's center northward toward a landfall near Charleston, SC by early tomorrow afternoon. By the time Ian's center reaches South Carolina, it may not have much of a core of high winds left. It's tropical storm force winds will extend quite far up the coast, almost all the way to near the Outer Banks, as it undergoes a slow transition to an extratropical storm tomorrow. However, those tropical storm force winds will not make it very far inland. Once Ian is inland tomorrow afternoon, it will likely be declared extratropical. its strongest winds will not be near the center, but well to the east along the coast.

Expected Impacts Inland
Northeast Florida Peninsula: Widespread severe flooding is likely through the morning for central and the northeast parts of Florida. Significant coastal flooding is expected over the northeastern part of the Peninsula. Power outages are also likely.
Carolinas: Widespread power outages are possible along the coast, along with moderate coastal flooding. There is also the potential for widespread street flooding inland.

We will issue an intermediate advisory by 1 PM EDT. Our next full advisory will be issued by 4 PM EDT

Meteorologist: Chris Hebert

Forecast Confidence:   Above Average

We lost power ~2 hours ago. I am working with my windows open because it's nice and cool out. Heard a huge crash, big flash of light and then no power. Wind gust snapped a neighbor's pine tree and it conveniently fell into the power pole, taking the transformer out. And we're not even seeing particularly heavy gusts!

My parents just got word from their neighbor that their place in Bonita Springs has survived with no major damage, they are just a few miles inland and a little south of where is made landfall.

what kinda "florida man" crap is that! I demand you slam a bunch of cheap beer and go join everyone as they gawk at broken stuff.

You misunderstood. I went outside and gawked.  I drove around the neighborhood and gawked.

I'm not gonna go outside and work till I have AC inside, though

Bloomingdale and Providence is the closest "main" intersection for me.  More Riverview than Lithia, I think.

My backyard has waves in it at the moment. Luckily it's not up to the house yet. Fingers crossed that it starts receding soon.
I talked to my neighbor who has lived here for 45 years and she said she has never seen any water yet alone this much on the ground.

No, seriously. Announced at one of the many emergency briefings that seem to be all the news we're getting. Well, that and talking heads standing next to flooded roadways.

My entire neighborhood has no power. No power at the street lights, no power at the bars, no power at the grocery stores. No power anywhere.

Except the closest Hungry Howie's, they have power.  They also have a sign lit up that says "OPEN" and a line out the door 20 deep.  Owner probably fitted a generator at some point, and the sales they are making today probably paid for it.

No word from my FiL in Punta Gorda. Cell phone goes straight to VM.

Cell towers are down so we have hope.

Wife got the info to the Red Cross. They are probably pretty busy but at least we could give them a known address.

Hope everyone is good down there.

Never lost power here, although the cable Internet is out. That's not unusual, we probably won't get that back for at least a few days based on past history.

My garage, which has flooded repeatedly has only a little bit of water on the floor down one wall.

I'm amazed how little rain we got here at my house. I'm probably only about 12-14 miles from the speedway. This is a picture my practice manager sent me. We're trying to see when to reopen the office.

Although we autocross on the kart track regularly, I'm not familiar enough with the complex to know where this is.

I drove around Pinellas checking on my stuff. As bad as it is with trees and wires down I feel like we dodged a nuke.

I saw something I had never seen before that I thought was pretty cool. There was a sheriff's SUV sitting at a major intersection with an extension cord coming out of the hood and it was plugged into the traffic light control box. Instead of standing out in the middle of 7 lanes of traffic waving and whistling they just powered up the light system with an under-hood generator.

I hate pine trees. Pine trees provide all the shade of a telephone pole and amuse themselves by breaking your windshield every once in awhile.
