Tropical storm Emily is centered about 35 miles west of us, headed east at 8mph. So far we have had 6 inches of rail and nearly constant lightning. Will have some miner flooding later, but no real danger. Winds will be 35-45mph. So, as far as tropical storms go, this is pretty minor. My only worry is losing power. Until Jim Cantore shows up, no sweat.

Put up the hurricane shutters, drink beer, grill stuff, and read a book until the power comes back on. Hurricanes are like like warm snowstorms that don't last as long.

This is no hurricane, just a minor inconvenience. Been through the real thing, no desire for that crap. Storm is expected to follow I4 across the state, going to visit Margie and her clan.

I stopped checking the weather here in Austin for the past month, because it's just been hot as berk. Didn't even hear about this, hope you manage to get through it with no issues.

Wow, and heading west-to-east too. That has to be pretty rare.

Looks like it's going south of us--too bad, too. We could use the rain. Pete, it's common for the storms we get here on the east coast of Florida to come out of the Gulf.

Interesting...of course I've only really started paying attention within the last couple years.

I was stationed in Tampa when TS Debbie rolled through. Ironically, the wife of one of SNCOs I worked for was named Debra.

After all the forecasted destruction turned out to be just rain and a little wind, he said the name of the TS was fitting because "all it did was make a bunch of noise and ruined everyone's day" .

I was hoping this would be about woodchucks. We have woodchucks. I hate berkeleying woodchucks.
