Vanishing Point is on TCM Saturday night, just saying
23:00 in California
I just set it to record. I notice Greased Lightnng is after that. The story of Wendell Scott - stock car racer played by Richard Pryor.
In reply to Wally:
Good - I just recorded it too. I have an old Car & Driver that has a story about Wendell.
Vanishing Point is one of those movies where you have to remember when it was made - it's still entertaining, but late 1960s and early 1970s movies tended to be kind of weird, with murky plot lines and a lot of random stuff tossed into the movie that doesn't seem to have much to do with the story. Kind of like Easy Rider or Two Lane Blacktop.
We watched Greased Lightning last night. The wife rolled her eyes at car movie and Richard Pryor. Halfway through she admitted it was a pretty good movie but was surprised the had it on TV with all the Confederate flags and throwing out the n word like they were being paid for it.
I DVRed Vanishing Point. So far, I've watched about the first 8 minutes (or two lines of dialogue). Going to the movies in the early 70's must've been an exercise in staying awake or having fun watching all the people nodding off. They don't make movies much like that anymore. I'll finish up watching it sometime this week.
In reply to T.J.:
We live in an instant gratification society now. In the 70's people actually had attention spans.
In reply to bravenrace:
Well, when this particular movie came out I was a 1 year old, so I personally have a longer attention span today then I did back them....but it's close.
