You'll probably want to plan on not ever smashing that finger while you're wearing it. It'll be a lot easier for the folks in the ER to cut off your swollen finger than a titanium ring.

I was taught to fly by an SR 71 pilot. He had some great stories. How long it took to do a 180 turn at speed.
