Trivia: Veterans' Day was first observed in 1921.

That was also the day of my grandfather's birth.

Two tours in Vietnam and this was the first time I got a benefit. My local barbershop, Great Clips gave me a haircut for free. The great thing is I didn't even have to show a copy of my DD214 they took my word.  Really great feeling.

That....  berkeleying sucks, actually.

OTOH, all my grandfather got friom his tour of the Pacific during the 1940s unpleasantness was a couple tattoos, a pilot's licence, skill in welding, alcoholism, and alcoholism-induced diabetes that cost him a leg in '77, and the other leg in '88 not long before he died of failure to keep living.

(says the guy who had half a bottle of Knob Creek for breakfast because he had a migraine all berking Saturday night and hasn't slept since Friday because MIGRAINES SUCK, GET ME A DRILL TO LET THE DEMONS OUT)
