If you want to drive up the road a piece to New Paltz (straight shot up 208), Bacchus is an institution (at least as far as college town pubs go). Haven't eaten at the restaurant, but the Tuthill House is adjacent to the Tuthilltown Distillery (which is excellent) in Gardiner and gets good reviews. Some good options further north (Phoenicia, Saugerties, Kingston) if you're going that way, but I don't know of too much else close to Walden.
The wife and I really enjoy going here. It's in Newburgh about 20 minutes from Walden. The food is good, prices are reasonable and you get your own jar of pickles on your table.
