I'm with Steve...

Except that I've shopped at Wal-Mart.

The wife goes there from time-to-time but I refuse to do business with them.

The "food" they sell ranges from sub-par to downright scary. Everything else in the store seems to be terrible quality at garbage prices.

Their business tactics force smaller stores and suppliers to go out of business. They convince a supplier to give them exclusive rights to something, then dictate what price they will buy the items at. Now other stores can't compete, go out of business and there's less choice. This drives the supplier out of business as well and they just move on to the next one. Nothing but a race to the bottom.

It's like Joe Pesci in Goodfellas: "F--- you, pay me."

I'm totally done with them.

I'm certainly not a frequent Wally World shopper, particularly since my local one is in a sketchy area.  However, I do like the fact that they carry stuff that you will only find at specialty retailers at much higher prices.  For example:  camping gear, ammunition, boat stuff.  You know, stuff like that.  Also, foodstuffs in a box with a date code are pretty risk-free.

I can think of places I'm less likely to go.

And where else are you likely to see grotesquely overweight individuals wearing not enough clothing?

Im now convinced that walmart is not accidentally overcharging for random items. This year I have had the same issue probably 10 times. I buy an item, I know whats its listed price is, then at checkout where I become an honorary walmart employee and ring up my own items, I see the item scans for higher than the advertised price. Never less than.

This morning I made a quick stop at everyone's favorite store to begrudgingly shop at. I only needed milk and dogfood.  I ended up seeing an item my brother was looking for and grabbed it. Martinellis sparkling apple juice. 4 pack for $5.56. Rings up for over 16$

I love that E36 M3.

Our local WM does that, I think more out of incompetence than anything. I watch prices very diligently because we have a Scanner price accuracy code in Canada. It's voluntary but all the major retailers abide by it and if something is incorrectly charged and the item is $10 or less, you get it free. If it's more than $10 you get a $10 discount. Now, I always thought it was $20, and since customer service, or cashiers probably didn't know either, I've taken advantage of it up to $20 many times.

How often do you think I go back and buy more of the same thing and get it free?

The answer is always.

I just came out of Walmart with two free jumbo containers of Pringles. As I walked through the store I saw the twofer deal And realized they had the sign backwards. It was supposed to be for the regular size. I grabbed two party size, paid then went to customer service.  She tried to give me the difference, not even noticing that they were wrong size, but I reminded her of the code. Oh, that doesn't apply to multi discounts. It absolutely does, but if you can show me different, I'll believe you.  She gave me all the money back.
I don't even really like Pringles, I just did it for the sport

I could understand a difference of a few cents, but that's pretty dramatic.  Did you talk to a manager, and if so did they correct the price?

This, it's not even being a Karen at that point.

If you love them never buy the Aldi's brand -  you'll hate those.  Aldi's Doritos copy suck too.

But have you tried Aldi's Big Dipper scoop-shaped tortilla chips yet?? NO ONE can compete. Not even the big name brands. That stuff is worth the trip to Aldi, despite their inferior selection of nacho cheese (finely shredded only in reduced fat).

I hadn't been to WM in a decade but they have a great price on Kashi cereal AND they're not nearby AND sometimes I need a sanity break so every other week I pile the kids into the minivan, drive to the nearest (or not nearest) small town with a WM and we go cereal and clearance aisle shopping. And die cast cars. I turn it into a multi-hour drive/meander trip and everyone is happy.

Funny though, as a yuppie I got sucked into the Target thing ("Satan's butthole") and the first few times I went shopping in WM again I felt like I'd found some low price life hack. Ha.

At this point I'm just rambling, having long since forgotten what the OP was about. Thanks for listening, doc.

Agreed. Aldi's gets a ton right, but there are a few stinkers. The nutty bars, however,  all day, all day.

Apprenticeboy: Man, these really are B grade chips.

Then why don't you stop eating them?

Because I can't.

End of the day...

OK if I take the left over chips home?
