They seemed to be most popular in late 80's to early 90's european luxury type cars. I'm looking for the style with a plate with a ball that usually bolted to the tunnel, an arm about 12" long, and another plate with a ball on it that the cell phone mount fastened to. I'm sure someone here has an E30, 944, or Audi Quattro that they've parted or turned into a race car that had one in it, right? I'd like to have four of them. Oh, and I'm cheap, so don't expect to get a lot of money out of it!

Whoops. I meant to out this in the classifieds. I just copied it there, so I might as well make this into an appropriate thread for this section. If the budget gets approved, I'm going to be building a life size humanoid poseable robot for use in a series of print ads and television commercials for a new brewery. That's all I'm willing to let out of the bag thus far, so stay tuned.

If you come up empty on those, what about flexible microphone stand necks?

No, I'm actually looking for the ball and socket joints that you can lock into place with a thumbscrew, and figured those old cell phone mounts would be a cheap and easy way to get them.

Had one in my '91 Jag I turned into a cupholder mount.
