We hate our dyson - heavy, loud, gimmicky features, ball is disgusting, inconsistent cleaning. I like to tell anyone who will listen how they're a marketing company not an engineering firm.
The ball is admittedly garbage. The vacuum that I left behind was the top of the line ridiculously expensive one, and it had regular ass wheels, and not a whole lot of gimmicks. But given the shark I havenow does 95% the job for 25% the price, I call it a win.

Great timing! I just broke my early 90s eureka today... Damn plastic parts ( It also has to have some ironic something to do with stocking up on a bunch of clearance bags the day before... )
Are there any non commercial wet dry vacs out there that have rollers yet?
Upright with a bag, Oreck. Can replace any part, mines 20+ years old. I sold Rainbows back in the early 80's, great machine but they're still really expensive.
We had a Rainbow for about 20 years, it did a great job but I hated dumping the water. We have a pull behind canister type for big cleanings, but every day this little Shark gets walked around, it works well. No bag, no water, cost <$50. Rechargeable and bends at the knee for going under stuff.

We got a Shark. I like it. Haven't had Tuna's issues; don't know whether pet fur making up 90% of our detritus is why it works for us... It does some particularly clever detachment stuff for leaving the base behind and being able to carry the motor in one hand and the hose in the other, for doing stairs and the like.
Kirbey and a Red Devil handheld. Eureka canister, Craftsman shop vac. Some lightweight plastic bag-less for upstairs.
All are noisy and none have a cord reel. But they all have their place.
