Wish we could go back in time and see him play it differently.
I see what you did there.
Local story running parallel to Weiner's; a Police Chief is texting similar images to his girlfriend. Mutual, consentual, his blackberry (or whatever equipment) not the City's, done on his lunch hour not city time.
He broke up the relationship, she's not happy & ran to the authorities. He's on paid administrative leave until it's sorted. You're right, being up front right from the start helped this guy's case.
I distrust Weiner more for repeatedly lying than for flashing someone.

Think about Jennifer Flowers, or the David Vitter prostitution thing. They both got away with it. And in both cases, they got in front of it, said "yeah, I did that" and apologized. Then they moved on. It seems like there's a lesson in that. Clinton, of course, went on to have other issues. But he was just kinda screwing around. Vitter, it seems, did something illegal. Even though I think it's silly for prostitution to be illegal, it is. So that's not the line. It's how they handle it once caught.
Though, in Weiner's case, the pictures may have been too damning even if he had handled it better. Not sure. Wish we could go back in time and see him play it differently. Hard to say.
Great points, Eddie!
If Weiner had just owned-up right from the beginning, we might have had a different result. I guess it's a by-product of huge ego's that make denial more attractive than accountability.
In a perverse way, I'm kinda sorry to him go. The man is a living caricature of the pompous and arrogant poo-liticians who infect the Capitol. When elected officials of his ilk scramble to get on camera, it's another opportunity to inspire voters to "drain the swamp".
And that personal sentiment is applied equally between the clowns with a D or an R after their names.
That was hilarious, just watched the raw feed of the conference.
It looks like the Weenie got tired of the grilling.

They just can't let go. One more turgid tabloid title
