... but I could buy one with the $25k go away money.

I did get a nice piece of oak with a muzzle end slice of an M-776. The lettering and images are burned in with a laser.

Amazing detail! I don't have a ruler handy, but you know how big a pen is.

What is this "retirement" of which you speak?

Hi 914Driver,

I’m just coming back from vacation so I’m out of the loop on this. Are you done or are you interested in moving on to something else.

BTW, each time we have a round of lay-offs, I calculate the odds of my still being around. Assuming people are randomly let go, I’m at a 1.25% probability of survival. I’ve had seven bosses (eight transitions in total as I’ve reported to the same person twice) in nine and a half years. I flew out to our corporate facility a few weeks ago to meet my new overlords and they literally greeted me with “so, you’re the survivor we’ve been hearing about”.

Anyway, if it isn’t redundant, I’d like to hear what you’re planning to do.

It's a small loop, just started today.

Don't know yet. We (wifey retired in March) plan on 1 to 3 day trips to the Adirondacks on a motorcycle. This winter we plan on hitting the southwest, New Mexico, Arizona, Texas (?). I would very much like to leave New York. My house is a 3,000 sq.ft. 4 BR Victorian built in 1894, I don't see me 20 years from now maintaining this museum. I'll work on her.....

Doing something? Hmmmm. Like a job? No. My boss is a 33 year old blue eyed blond, wicked smart, two masters' degrees and can't praise me enough. If I wanted to work, I'd stay under her. [pun intended] When word got out that I was leaving her phone started ringing with people that wanted to be her new bitch, she laughs.

I'm OK for now, those long cold days of winter however, I have to build something, drink to excess, kill someone or just change gears in my head.

We went to Cape Cod and had a good time with a 16 ft. open motor boat, I bought one as a project. There's a build thread here but right now it's pretty empty.

My wife says "I don't know how I had time to go to work".

OK, I'll try it.

Film at 11 ......

Poke around for the Order of St. Bridget, Army Person of the year etc.

Dibbs for sure, but I can't afford a wife; damn sure can't afford an ex-wife.

good lord people, do we now know when to roast people? THIS IS THE TIME.

Dan- nice of them to put a piece of trash on a pretty chunk of wood to give you. The recycle bin for the material was that over flowing?...

I'm no youngster here (as evidened by the truck thread), but when you started work, I was barely learning how to skate. Not even old enough to play Mite Hockey....

Your carrrer stretches back so far, you must remember developing materials for the muzzle loading cannons....

Hearing explosions as part of your job must have been a big inspiration for your challenge VW, based on how it turned out...

Ok- that's a good start people. Lets give him a good roast.

Happy retirement, Dan.

the last two words of the OP are "pen" followed by "is", which were both after the words "how big a"..
