I'm taking drum lessons at Guitar Center. One of the perks (to shave more money outta my pocket) is Open Lessons.
As a student, I get to take free lessons on other instruments during Open Lesson nights. I took the bass guitar lesson last night . . . Holy crap was it fun!! It was more fun than drumming . . .
Now I troll CL for a bass guitar . . . Damnit . . .

So, in other words, Open Lesson night went exactly as planned from the Guitar Center's point of view.
I watched a YouTube video last night that was John Entwistle's isolated bass track from a live performance of Won't get Fooled Again. Look that up for some fun bass work.

I have 3 for sale. I presume you're right-handed? In that case I have 2 that may interest you.
Grassroots Music thread? LOL. I picked up my wife's ocarina the other night. I think I'll give it a try soon.
You don't want to be a drummer anyhow. Way too much work moving those damn things around.

I always hated micing them
If you were in Ct, I'd give you my old one.. I don't think I'm going to magically get musical ability any time soon.
I used to know a really good bass player. He was a studio musician, plus played with everyone. He was on Sonny and Cher, then Sonny, then Cher on TV, and he had a wall of LP's about 12 ft long and a foot deep. You could pick up any of them and his name would be on the back as the bass player. Then he just vanished. Also great at electronics. He didn't like his Sony Trinitron picture, so he rebuilt the TV to make it better, etc. Disco Dave McDaniels.
The drums was an instrument I've always wanted to play. I have an electronic set cobbled together from eBay to appease Mrs. Zero and dos gatos estúpidos. After a month of lessons, I've enjoyed it . . . That bass lesson though was awesome!! Looks like I'll be at Guitar Center twice a week . . . Still not buying anything in there

It's probably not worth that, I'm sure it would cost $75 to ship, and that's probably about $25 more than the value of it..

I've got a really nice Danelectro Longhorn from the 90's. Plays easy and sounds great. Or I've got a really really nice S.D. Curlee from 1977 - serial number 321! I got it from the 2nd owner.
Oh, and I have a left-handed no-name P-bass that's strung right-handed(how I play). I set it up so it plays well and it sounds...well, like a P-bass. It's cheap!

My oldest son loves drums, always has. Worked with me one summer, made enough to buy a nice set. My sister came down to visit and her son played on the drums, which was the first time he had done that. He also liked it a lot. Went on to get a bit famous for his drumming. David Grohl.

I started playing drums in elementary school because my mom wanted me to learn an instrument and drums looked like the easiest. "How hard can it be?" In high school I learned electric guitar so I would know what everyone else was talking about. I now have two drum sets, three guitars, two basses, and I'm working on a mini recording studio in the bassement.
This adiction is just as bad as motorsports. Accept that now or get out while you still have money left...

Chuck, the next time you talk to Dave or his mom, please pass the word that we all think he's a badass for finishing that gig after he broke his leg. Not that he needs anyone to tell him.
Oh, and when he needs another bassist to give me a call.
Glad you are having fun, but lemme guess... you are gonna miss the September Dragon, right?
In reply to Curmudgeon:
The plan is to attend in September!! I updated the Build Thread the other day since I actually did some work on the car
This music hobby thing is a try out to do something other than my norm of wrenching/video game/anime binge after long days of work. Those other hobbies are too much like my profession . . . So I thought I take a swing at an Art.
