Three years ago I sold a very nice DG-300 to a guy in Washington state. He flew out, cut the deal, did paperwork and went home. A week later he shows up with Subie and a dog, hauled it cross country.

Today I learned that he clipped some trees while landing out (somewhere not the airport) and hit really hard.
He died on the way to the hospital ....

I was just at the local airpark this afternoon watching some soaring. It looks like fun, but that is always in the back of my mind.

I was afraid that's where the story was going...that really does suck.
I've been going to Oshkosh for 26 years. I've met more pilots that have gone West than I care to remember. It never gets easier.
